SCENE 1:
At TA, (Early morning).
[ Hahn is walking towards the door.
Coffee in one hand, bag in the other.
Ready to open the store after last
night’s waxing. . . ]
[ As he steps inside,
a trail of various
cereals await him on the floor. Pointing in
the direction of the cooler, Hahn follows until
his feet start to get slick. He then notices
gallons of ice cream
that have now melted
into a massive puddle on the ground. ]
HAHN: What. The.

Meanwhile, at Ace’s. . .
KARIE: My brother’s game is at 5.
Meet you there after work?
ACE: Yeah. I’m meeting up with Mark
today. I kind
of forgot. I’m sorry babe.
KARIE: Oh, that’s alright. He’ll understand.
ACE: Thanks.
Tell the fam I said hi.
[ She kisses Ace, heading out the door. ]
[ When she leaves, Ace slowly gets off the
couch & walks over to a tall mirror on the
living room
wall. Lifting up his shirt, he
stands frozen, peering at the swollen
area underneath his arm.
Startled alert, Ace hears Mark loudly
honking his horn outside. ]
SCENE 2:
At Jeszyca and Larrie’s.
[ Laying on the couch, Jeszyca
is browsing for jobs online
when she gets a phone call. ]
JESZYCA: Hey
Am.
AMBER: Hey, I just wanted to
see how things we’re going.
Ski told me what happened.
JESZYCA: Well if you’re wondering
If I’m working yet.
The answers
a huge resounding no.
AMBER: Really, I’m surprised.
You’ve done like everything.
JESZYCA: Right.
Maybe it’s karma.
Next time I’ll think twice before
knifing some creep.
[ Amber starts to laugh & Jeszyca
can’t help but join her. ]
[ Awhile later, Jeszyca is back to
browsing online when an highly
decorated ad catches her eyes. ]
“HEALTHY VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED!!!
PAID WELL FOR TIME!"
SCENE 3:
At Eden Golf Club.
[ Mark & Ace are getting ready to
walk towards the first hole when
Ace goes to grab the bag of clubs. ]
MARK: Sure you can handle that?
You’re seeming a little out of it
today.
ACE: Oh yeah? Don’t worry about
your boy, I’m fine.
[ Ace gets his balance while closing
the trunk. ]
ACE: And prepared to kick your
old man ass!
[ He laughs, trying to adjust himself
before they begin walking. ]
MARK: We’ll see. Let’s not forget
who out ran you the other night.
ACE: Yeah, yeah.
You talk lots
of crap. Time
for you to back
it up.
[ Mark starts to run ahead of him.
When out of sight, Ace drops the
bag down trying hard to catch
his breath. A
few minutes later
Mark comes back around. ]
MARK: Hey, everything cool?
SCENE 4:
At a Private Research Center.
[ Jeszyca is alone, flipping through a
magazine in the waiting room. When
the door flies open & a nurse enters. ]
“Miss Norigami, you can come back.”
[ Back in the office. . . ]
NURSE: So you’ve passed all our
initial tests and we happen to have
one opening in this weekend’s trial.
[ The nurse looks up, waiting for a response. ]
JESZYCA: Great, um.
Can I ask what type
of trial this is?
NURSE: Sure, this one is pretty simple. It’s
testing the safety and tolerance levels for
a new, topical gel.
We administer it to your forehead once
a day, for three days.
All while keeping a
close eye on your progress.
JESZYCA: Okay, and what are the side effects?
NURSE: You know, normal things like itch or
mild burning, Or most times, nothing at all.
JESZYCA: Well,
that doesn’t sound too crazy.
And I really need the money right now.
NURSE: Great! So let’s get you signed up.
[ The nurse opens a folder of papers
& smiles at Jeszyca, holding out a pen. ]
SCENE 5:
At Connor Middle School field.
[ Leaning up against the field gate, Ace
can see the groups gathered around
& he notices that the game has ended.
Searching he finally finds Karie, her
little brother and the rest of her family
standing by the home plate. ]
[ Seeing how happy everyone looks,
he starts to walk toward the field
to join in the congratulations.
Right before he steps inside, Ace
gets a nauseating feeling in the
pit of his stomach.
Barely having
time to bend over, he suddenly
gets sick all over the grass. ]
[ Seeing Karie coming toward
him, he quickly steps away
and meets her. ]
KARIE: You missed it.
Blake won!
We’re all going to out to Thursday’s
to celebrate.
ACE: Great, I’ll see you there.
[ She walks off to find her car
while Ace stands there holding
his stomach. ]
SCENE 6:
Back at Jeszyca & Larrie’s. . .
[ Jeszyca walks in the door & Larrie
is waiting for her on the couch. ]
LARRIE: Hello, Miss Secrecy.
I’ve been texting you all day.
[ She sits down on the couch
by him. ]
JESZYCA: Sorry, I’ve been busy.
LARRIE: Well, don’t worry about
money. Ski is
letting me work two
extra days a pay period.
JESZYCA: You don’t have to do that.
LARRIE: I know, but I’m going to.
JESZYCA: I found a way to make
some fast, decent money today.
LARRIE: Oh yeah?
What is it?
JESZYCA: I’m participated in a
clinical trial starting tomorrow
morning until Sunday night.
LARRIE: You mean like experiments
on your body type shit?
JESZYCA: No, silly.
It’s just a simple
test for some new face cream or
something.
LARRIE: Oh, well still. Be careful.
You never know about people
these days.
JESZYCA: I will.
I mean, what harm
can they really do in three days?
