Monica & Kyle's house.

[ Trailyn, Mairya, & Jenni are

sitting in the living room. ]

"This is amazing!"

[ Jenni calls from the hall after

eyeing Trailyn's shiny, but subtle

orange performance dress.

She joins them on the sofa. ]

TRAILYN: You don't think it's

too much? 

JENNI: Not at all. It's perfect.

TRAILYN: If this goes well

it could turn into a regular

thing for me there.

JENNI: That's exciting.

TRAILYN: So who all did you

invite?

MAIRYA: I'll be bringing Micaa,

H and Dean.

[ They both look at Jenni. ]

JENNI: Chais and Billy left this

morning on some mission out

of state.  I think they are staying

over night. 

But I should probably warn you

H may have invited Jai which

means my nonsense sis

will be tagging along.

MAIRYA: Oh great.  I'll be sure

to thank him for his lack of

common sense.

[ She looks over at her best friend. ]

MAIRYA: If you want me to bounce

her ass out of there, just give me

the word.

TRAILYN: No thanks.  I don't 

need the drama.  Anyway my

music is open to all.  Especially

cheating, lying snakes.

[ Trailyn holds out her phone,

scrolling through her lyrics. ]

TA, Back conference room.

[ Hiring manager Weis is sitting

down organizing resumes before

the event starts.

Checking his phone for the time,

he waits for his GM to show up. ]

[ A few minutes later, there's a knock

& the door opens.]

WEIS: Whoa, what are you doing

here?

[ Joh enters in similar dress with

a button up white shirt, pants

& a tie. ]

JOH: Last night, I was sitting in

my room catching up on my

favorite series when Mark 

emails me out of nowhere

saying they got last minute

tickets and are leaving in the

morning.

Conveniently I was already

scheduled.

[ He smiles, sitting down. ]

WEIS: Last minute my ass.  They

did that shit on purpose.

JOH: Yeah, I know.  That's why we

are going to stretch this double

time out as long as possible and

make the best out of our day.

And I know the sweetest way to 

start.

WEIS: You brought some?

JOH: Already rolled buddy.

WEIS: Let's go.  We have

to be back seated in fifteen

minutes.

[ They race to the employee lot

where Joh's car is parked.

Ten minutes later, they are freshly

sprayed & back inside sitting

in the open conference room. ]

WEIS: You were right.  It's way

too busy out there to do this

in the lobby area.

So who is going to be

outside doing check-ins?

[ Airynn peaks in from around

the corner. ]

AIRYNN: Morning losers.

JOH: Hey. Right on time.

WEIS: Yeah. Let's try to leave

my virginity story out of the

intros this time.*

[ Airynn laughs from the hall. ]

Highway passed Mirror city.

[ Billy is driving while Chais

is sitting, anxiously in the 

passenger seat. ]

"We need to hurry."

BILLY: Your parents won't be

back until tomorrow some

time.

Chill the hell out.

CHAIS: I know. But i want a

chance to circle these edibles

around before the weekend.

See if they actually sell.

BILLY: It's cool. We can bake

or whatever we need to do

all night.

CHAIS: And we'll have to store

everything downstairs.

BILLY: Did you make the list?

CHAIS: Yeah. It's on my phone.

BILLY: Honestly.  I'm surprised

you're making changes at all.

Things were going pretty well

so far.

CHAIS: It wasn't my choice.

BILLY: I see.  Well that's not

going to last long.

CHAIS: What is that suppose

to mean?

BILLY: Nothing.

[ He turns up the music.

Hours later, they pull into a

parking spot. ]

CHAIS: We good?

BILLY: Yeah, my cousin's inside.

I'll be waiting out here.

[ Chais leaves him & enters

the store. ]


Later that night.

[ Trailyn is sitting down back-
stage going over things with
her band.

Meanwhile; Mairya, Micaa,
Little H, Dean, & Jenni are
sitting at a table in front 
of the stage. ]

JENNI: This is nice.  I'm glad we
all could be here to support
her.
MAIRYA: Yeah it was.  Until
someone decided to invite
an enemy along.

LITTLE H: Really? It was an
innocent mistake.  They just
fell asleep together from
what I heard.

[ Mairya rolls her eyes at him. ]

JENNI: And Tray is over it.  It's
not her focus anymore.  So why
are  you still making it yours?

[ Mairya goes to speak but is
interrupted by the DJ calling
everyone to attention on the
mic.

After getting the crowd quiet,
he introduces Trailyn and she
walks out.  Taking her place
on a stool in the center. ]

[ She looks up in time to see
her ex Jai and Kaori walk in
& take a seat at a side table.

Unfazed, the music begins &
she starts to sing.  Staring
right at them. ]


Earlier that day, TA.

[ After hours of interviewing
& multiple decision made.

Weis & Joh are down to the
last three candidates going
for a produce position.

Zoie, Tomas, & Jadyn.  ]

"I think Jadyn is the best
qualified."

[ Weis breaks the silence. ]

JOH: Yeah you would.
WEIS: What? He had the most
relevant experience and he
was the most engaging.

JOH: He engaged in some-
thing alright.  Staring down
every inch of you.  He cleary
wanted some.
WEIS: Oh please.  I haven't
been physical with anyone since
I started dating Stuu.  Almost two 
years I honestly don't even 
think about that part of me 
now.
JOH: If you say so dude.  I mean,
it's not like you haven't been
busy taking care of Mila
and everything.

WEIS: Exactly.  I'm gonna go
piss and then we can tell
him and get out of here.

[ Weis walks in the bathroom
not noticing that Jadyn has
followed him and entered also.

Jadyn takes a stand right next
to him. He sits back some. Unzips
his pants & slowly begins to
urinate looking over at Weis.

Weis is stone locked, keeping
his glance forward. ]

JADYN: Go ahead.  Look.


On Stage, 'All Ages'.

"Started as a simple
Conversation.

She was just another
Friendly face and--

[ Trailyn glances at Jai who
is now stalled from siping
his water glass.

The music gets intense &
the backup singers come
in. ]

"Wait let me take a sec

(To gather all the lies up)"

[ Dean is smirking at the
table while everyone else
but Mairya looks uncomfor-
table. 

Trailyn continues to expose
him, moving around the stage
as she hold out her notes. ]

"We were just sleeping.

It was just a kiss."

"But i know exactly how
she used her lips."

[ The song ends & she's pointing
through the stage crowd in Kaori's
direction.

Kaori sips at her drink.  Not ashamed,
she stands for verification.  Starting
the applause while Jai shrinks down
in his seat. ]

Them vs. Me vs. Us

Scene One:

[ Ski walks into the house &

sees Jai passed out on the

couch. ]

"Hey! You know it's 7:30."

[ Jai sits up fast, disoriented. ]

JAI: Shit.  

SKI: Are you alright? I feel

like we haven't talked in

awhile. You're always dis-

appearing at night.

JAI: Yeah I'm fine.  We'll

catch up later I promise.

Can you text Jenni for 

me?  I'll be there in an

hour.

SKI: Sure bud.

[ Jai grabs his stuff & heads

for the bathroom. ]

[ Much later; Ski joins Amber,

Jeszyca, & Hithe at the Cafe

across from TA. ]

"You ready for your fake

camping trip?"

[ Amber smiles, Hithe starts to

laugh a little. ]

SKI: Hey. We're not spending all

our time in the RV.  

HITHE: Give him credit.  This is

probably the most outdoorsy

thing he's ever done.

[ Ski goes silent for a moment

thinking about how Jai was

earlier. ]

AMBER: How's everything going

at home?  I heard that Jenni and

Jai are doing well at Care now.

SKI: Yeah.  I'm not sure how Jai

is really handling it. He has

school also.  I mean we weren't

wrong letting him do both. Were

we?

JESZYCA: Everyone gets tired and

runs late.

HITHE: Unless it gets worse.  I

wouldn't worry about it.  Jai

would tell you if he didn't

think he could handle it.

AMBER: Yeah.  I don't see a pro-

blem.

[ The waiter returns to take

their orders. ]

Scene Two:

[ Charles is standing up to the

counter waiting for his wallet

to be returned to him.

A flash of the past three months

he's spent locked away over take

him until he realizes the clerk is

staring, waiting for him to move. ]

"Thank you."

[ As the door shuts & locks behind

him, Charles notices his friends

waiting in the parking lot. ]

CHARLES: I didn't think anyone

would come.

[ They come closer. ]

RICKY: You think we'd let you walk?

MAXX: Not when we've been counting

the days until we see you.  Why don't

we get something to eat?

CHARLES: Great.  Can we stop at my

place first so I can change?

[ Charles gets in the back & Maxx

heads out of the parking lot.

They turn right & Charles begins

to stare out the window. Cracking

the window, he gasp enjoying the

fresh air. ]

CHARLES: I should call Hahn.

[ Maxx turns down the music &

Ricky pretends not to hear him. ]

CHARLES: For some reason it's

not going through.  My phone

is on.  I already checked it.

MAXX: Yeah about that.  I don't

think you'll be hearing from

Hahn anymore.  And I wouldn't

try to contact him either.  

Sorry man.

Scene Three: The night after.

[ As the sun begins to set at

Mirror Lake.  Ski, Larrie, & Joh

are drinking beers & sitting on

chairs near the water. ]

SKI: Can't believe I've never

heard of this place before.

[ He smiles, behind his shades.

Replacing his empty glass. ]

JOH: Yeah. Nice find.  I'm sur-

prised your girl didn't wanna

come along.

LARRIE: I don't have a girl

anymore.

[ Ski sits up to speak. ]

LARRIE: And no I don't need

to talk about it.  Remember

this is meant be relaxing.

SKI: I agree.  No relationship

drama while were here.

JOH: Fine with me.  I didn't

ever have one.  

[ They start to laugh. ]

SKI: There is something kind

of personal I wanted to discuss

though.  

JOH: You're finally telling me

secrets.

[ He looks excited, getting closer. ]

SKI: Not exactly.  When I ask

you, I'll need your up front

and honest opinion, Okay?

LARRIE: Just say it already.

SKI: Do you think that I'm.

Scene Four:

[ Charles is sitting at the table

with Ricky & Maxx across from

him.  All three are sipping on

their milkshakes. ]

"So what exactly did Hahn say?"

RICKY: Pretty much that he didn't

want to hear from you.  Aside from

making sure your place was around

he's done.  

MAXX: Don't worry about it man.  You

got us.  

CHARLES: This doesn't make much sense

though.  He came in to see me every

week.

MAXX: Not everyone understands that

when you were seeing all those girls

you weren't in your right state of mind.

CHARLES: What is that suppose to 

mean?

I didn't force them to do anything.

[ Maxx takes a break.  Looking for the

words. ]

RICKY: We know that.

CHARLES: But Hahn doesn't. Of all

people he should know.  He should

know me.

MAXX: You can't make him though.

Just try to focus on what you do

have.

CHARLES: Yeah, what's that?  I'm 

tired of starting over.

Scene Five:

[ They continue their conversation in
-side while Larrie is preparing some
food. ]

JOH: Do I think you're shallow?

Well you're married and I don't
really see you checking out
guys.

SKI: I know.  I was just think-
ing the other day about my
choice of friends.
LARRIE: What about us?

[ He actually looks threatened. ]

SKI: Nothing about you per se.
It's me.  I'm attracted to every
single one of you.
JOH: Well thank you.

[ He smirks at Ski. ]

SKI: I think it's starting to really
affect my place as manager too.
LARRIE: Judging by the new hires
I saw last week, I dont think so.

[ He looks over at Joh for approval. ]

SKI: Weis hired them and that's
not really my point.  It just feels
wrong.  Maybe I should see some-
one about it.
LARRIE: Hey, if you need another
opinion I'll just tell you now. We're
all crazy.

SKI: Thanks.

[ He shrugs his shoulders, feeling
worse. ]


Scene Six:

"I thought you were leaving."

MAXX: Figured you might not
want to be alone tonight.

[ He waves & Ricky drives off. 

Back in Charles' living room. ]

MAXX: Fire up the system.

[ He pulls out a bottle of alcohol
& sits two glasses down on the
table. ]

CHARLES: Seriously?
MAXX: Yup.  That's what we're
doing.  

[ Charles watches as the drink
slowly fills each glass.

They both takes long sips. ]

MAXX: I know it's not easy losing
someone you've spent so much
time with.  Real people are hard
enough to find as it is.  That why
I'm gonna be here whenever you
want me to be.  
CHARLES: Thanks man but I'm not
going to cry over it.

MAXX: Focus on the game instead.

Just one more thing.  Promise me
you're not going back.

[ Charles looks up at Maxx. ]

CHARLES: I promise.

With Bitter Certainty: Part 1 (Finale)

scene one:

[ Jeszyca is dressed up enjoying

her breakfast at the table

when Sunshine comes in. ]

"Aren't you running late?  I

thought you had to be there

at 7."

[ She questions as Sunshine

sits down. ]

SUNSHINE: Yeah I decided to

lessen my time at the fitness

center.

JESZYCA: Okay.  To how many

days?

[ She looks at Jeszyca, smiles

& bites into her toast triangle. ]

SUNSHINE: Not sure yet. Now

that I can work anywhere I 

want to consider my options.

JESZYCA: Its nice to consider.

Better to have a concrete plan.

SUNSHINE: You're right.  And

speaking of, I have got to get

going.

Mmmmm.  What did you coat the

berries with?

JESZYCA: A little this, a little

that.  Maybe some vodka.

[ Sunshine isn't surprised. Kissing

her & walking towards the door. ]

SUNSHINE: Good thing I only had

one piece.  See you tonight babe.

[ Jeszyca smiles, indulging in

a spiked blueberry. ]

scene two:
Inside Syria's living room.

[ Ricky walks inside joining
Hahn on the couch. ]

HAHN: Thanks for coming.

RICKY: You sounded frantic
on the phone.  What's going
on?
HAHN: Have you noticed any-
thing different with Charles 
lately?
RICKY: Well I don't hear from 
him much and when I do it
tends to be general conver-
sation only.

HAHN: Yeah same here. Sadly I
have no clue what's going on
anymore.  He just won't let
me in.
RICKY: If Charles wants to be
secretive and go all MIA. What
can we really do about it?

[ Hahn stands up, walking &
Ricky turns toward him. ]

HAHN: We could find him and
try to force out the truth.

[ He pulls out a single key
from his khaki pocket. ]

HAHN: I knew keeping this
would come in handy.  He's
staying at my old place.

I'll drive.

[ He stands, waving the key. ]

RICKY: After you.


scene three:
Night before, at The Aisles.

[ Ski is showing Joh the new
ordering system when Stuu
shows up. ]

"Cool I think I got it."

JOH: Hey man, how's the
baby?

STUU: She's good.  Weis is
home.  

[ He stands there, quiet &
trying to keep his eyes
open. ]

SKI: Here.  You need this
more than I do.

[ He hands Stuu his coffee
drink & he takes a sip. ]

STUU: Thanks.  Things have
been hectic ever since Zain
went on vacation.  I'm use
to having that nap time
after I get off.
JOH: Yeah.  He'll be back
from New Zealand in another
week.  He met a girl while
he was there too.

STUU: Of course he did.

[ Stuu half smiles. ]

JOH: I don't think it's
serious though. Don't freak.
SKI: You sure about that?

[ They look at Ski's screen
as picture after picture
scroll of Zain, holding &
kissing this new girl. ]


SKI: Looks pretty for real.

scene four:
  TA, the next afternoon.

[ Sunshine is seated comfort-
ably in Mark's office when
he starts to speak. ]

"You're probably wondering
why exactly I called you
in."

SUNSHINE: Normally I've read
a description of the job but
in this case.

MARK: I know.  I contacted
you first.  I've heard about
your experience from Jeszyca.

And there's something coming
up with TA that I think you
would be the perfect fit for.
SUNSHINE: Really, what is it?

A restaurant of some sort?  
MARK: You're on the right track.
There will be food involved.

[ He stands up, revealing the
model that's placed on his
desk. ]

MARK: This is what the inside
of the first Aisles Bar will
look like.
SUNSHINE: Wow.  That's amazing.

MARK: And you haven't even
heard the best part.

I know you have bartending ex-
perience. But we decided someone 
with your drive and talent should
really be at the forefront of
this whole operation.
SUNSHINE: What does that mean?

MARK: It means I want you to
manage.  


scene five:

[ Ricky is standing behind
Hahn as he unlocks the door. 

Walking in, they can tell
right away that no ones 
inside. ]

"Look around. Maybe will
find something."

RICKY: This is kind of weird.

[ She walks into the kitchen.
Opening the fridge, she sees
a few random food items and
a jug of milk. ]

RICKY: Milk is expired.  I'm
guessing you were right and
he hasn't been here in a
few weeks.
HAHN: His brother has a cabin
I think but I doubt he be there
after.

[ Ricky enters the living room
where Hahn is going through
papers on the table. ]

RICKY: After what?
HAHN: He found out Sandie is
sleeping with his brother.
RICKY: That's crazy.  No wonder
he left town.  I wouldn't want to
be near them either
HAHN: Who is this?

[ He shows Ricky a hotel notepad
with an unknown name written
down on it. ]

RICKY: I don't know but maybe
someone at this hotel has
seen him.
HAHN: Yeah it's in Mirror. We
should check it out.    

[ Suddenly they hear a key rat-
tling its way into the lock.

Shaken still, eyes toward the
front door. ]

HAHN: He's here.


scene six:

"Thank you again. I won't
let you down."

MARK: Don't be nervous about
being new to management either.

We're one team at TA.  I'll make a
path for you.  

[ He stares at Sunshine as
she exits his office. 

Turning around, she almost
bumps into another worker. ]

"Hey.  Can I ask you a quest-
ion?"

SCOTT: Sure anything.

[ He smiles at her.  Trying not to
show his obvious attraction. ]

SUNSHINE: How do you feel about
Mark as a manager?  Is he
a trustworthy guy?

SCOTT: Yeah.  I'd say so.  
Why are you considering
coming on?  Maybe in my
department.
SUNSHINE: No it's somewhere
else.  I'll see ya.


[ She leaves Scott disappointed,
walking out. ]

SCENE ONE:
Early AM, still dark out.

[ Weis is reclining on the couch with
baby Mila snuggled on top of him. 

Stuu enters the room & sits down, 
putting on his shoes. ]

"If you need to.  Tie will be
up in the afternoon."

WEIS: Ah we'll be fine.  I've
been here the whole week, I
think I've pretty much gotten
the hang of it all.
STUU: I know.  And I trust you.

WEIS: Like I said, she'll be
calling me 'Da da' in no time.

[ Stuu smiles at the thought. ]

WEIS: I can't help but to wonder
about her mom.  I mean, why
go through this extensive donor
process just to dissapear after
the birth.
STUU: I know.  It doesn't make
much sense.

[ He starts to walk away. ]

WEIS: Probably because it's
not true.  They're clearly hid-
ing something.
STUU: Even if you're right. Does
it really matter that much?

WEIS: Maybe not to you.  

[ Weis looks down as Mila starts
to wake up.  Stuu comes over.

Sighing heavily, he kisses them
both then leaves. ]


SCENE TWO:
Meanwhile, inside TA.

[ Back in the Meat department
Ricky is looking up at the sche-
dule as her assistant Maxx 
walks up from behind. ]

"Excuse me."

[ Ricky turns around, rolling her
eyes at Maxx's smirking face. ]

RICKY: I know you viewed that
pic I sent you.  Why are you act-
ing so surprised?

[ Maxx looks down, feeling caught. ]

MAXX: I don't know.  It's different to
to see you in person.  So what should
I call you now?

[ Ricky looks over, confused. ]

RICKY: My name genius.  

[ She finally smiles.  Maxx gets a
 glimpse of a familiar expression
& begins to relax. ]

MAXX: So we're close enough for
me to ask.  I think.  Is it gone?
RICKY: Hey.  I'm still your mana-
ger and we're still at our job.

Just remember that.

[ Ricky shakes her head at him
& exits toward the counter. ]


SCENE THREE:
Garage, outside Stuu's.

[ Weis leans the seat back, placing a
baby monitor down near him.  He takes
out a newly wrapped grape swisher &
puffs away at the added contents. 

A few minutes later he gets out
walking toward a package that's
hidden by the door. ]

"They're here."

[ Later inside, he is texting night
manager Ski. ]

WEIS: Dude.  I need a favor.
SKI: It's only been one week and
you're already running for the hills.
WEIS: LOL.  Actually the baby loves
me.  It's Stuu who has the problems
with her.  
SKI: Well I'm hoping moving him to
days would help you guys out. 
WEIS: Yeah.  Except now we hardly
see each other.  

SKI: Well like I told you both.  You
need your time.  I can watch her
whenever.
WEIS: Really thanks.  How about 
tonight?


SCENE FOUR: 

[ Behind the counter, Ricky notices
a male customer hovering over the
glass.

When Ricky comes close, the stran-
ger changes his view. ]

RICKY: Can I help you find some-
thing?

[ Ricky smiles meeting the young
man's glance for the first time.

The recieved look back was less
than warm. ]

"What did you do to your face?"

[ Maxx comes out, just in time
to hear.  He starts toward the
customer with Ricky close behind
but Scott is already there. ]

SCOTT: If you really want to know.

[ Scott faces him. ]

SCOTT: Try asking in a respectful
 way.
MAXX: Or he could just fuck off
out of here and mind his
own damn business.

"Is there a problem here?"

[ They turn around to see Mark
staring at them.  The stranger
runs out of the store while Scott,
Maxx, & Ricky return to work. ] 


SCENE FIVE:
Between cities, Zain & Joh's.

[ Joh, Zain, Tiesun, & Larrie
are sitting in the living room
when Weis enters.

Joh offers him a beer but he
declines. ]

"So how's parenthood?"

WEIS: I hate to say it but I feel
like I need a break already.
ZAIN: I thought everything
was chill with you and Mila.
WEIS: It is.  But Stuu gets so
worked up over every little
thing.  And he won't let any
else watch her so we can
have a night out.
TIESUN: I'm sure that will 
change with time.  

LARRIE: Yeah.  That's normal
for new parents.  You just have
to wait it out.

[ Later Joh & Weis are alone in
the basement. ]

"Did you show him the costumes?"

WEIS: Not yet.  I figured with him
being an animal lover and the fact
that it doesn't involve our bodies
persay.  He might consider.
JOH: The battles of being intimate
with an asexual. Next on Today.
WEIS: You're dumb.  Anyway I just
have to get Stuu alone one night
and convince him.

JOH: Well good luck with that.


SCENE SIX:
End of shift, TA.

[ Ricky is walking in the parking lot.
She can tell Maxx is behind so
she picks up the pace a little. ]

"Why are you folllowing me?"

[ Ricky states, without turning 
around. ]

MAXX: You made it through day
one,  Just thought you might
want to.

[ He stops when Ricky turns
around, connecting their eyes. ]

RICKY: What?  You just don't
understand at all.  Do you?
MAXX: I'm here.  Trying.

RICKY: There will be no shoot.
No name change and no cele-
bration.  Alright.

I'm the same me inside that
I've always been.  I don't
want to be treated any
differently.

MAXX: Okay i got it.  I'll
see you tomorrow then.

[ Ricky watches as Maxx runs
back inside. ]
