Fish Me Away [ #AutumnalPassions ]

Scene One:

[ Club Victory, Promo Room. ]

[ Kiilyn is standing facing a massive, bill-

board size snap of him. Looking over it,

he flashes back to before the accident.

Thinking about his missing limb. ]

Victoria sneaks up behind, wrapping

her arms around him from the back. ]

"Staring at yourself.  Really?"

KIILYN: Yeah, I was just thinking

it's probably time for us to re-do

these.  

TORI: Why?

KIILYN: I mean.  Considering they

don't represent who I am anymore.

TORI: It's still you babe.  

[ She kisses him on the cheek. ]

Whatever will make you more

at ease.  

We just won't have time before 

the weekend.  

KIILYN: I know.  Can't believe

it's been a month since we've 

been open.  Are you nervous?

TORI: A little.  But we've done

good about keeping the word

out.  Updating our socials.

I'm expecting the normal

crowd tomorrow.

KIILYN: That's a relief.

I basically invited the whole of

TA to attend. You know mom.

She's been telling all her friends.

TORI: Great, I'm excited now!

I'm gonna go check in with

the other employees.  

[ She smiles at him, then walks 

out. ]

Scene Two:

[ True Access University, Theatre. ]

[ The room is silent but filled with

students spread among the tiered

seating. 

Waiting for their instructor Little 

H to break into his monologue 

demonstration. ]

[ He stands still, facing a long mirror

with a sullen expression on his face. ]

"Today is a brand-new day."

LITTLE H: One where I will no longer

be held back by my fears.

One where I will no longer be 

crippled by intense anxieties.

[ He turns toward the audience. ]

For today, I am free!

[ He shouts, letting out his excitement

by banging his fist repeatedly on the

glass. ]

[ Later on, the class has cleared out &

Hithe approaches the stage. Hearing

loud clapping, H comes from behind

a dark curtain. ]

"That was incredible!"

LITTLE H: Hey Dad!  What are you

doing here?

[ They shake hands & hug onto each

other. ]

HITHE: The rest of the guys are on

their way to Maison City.  Thought 

we could ride down together.

LITTLE H: Sounds good. Just got to

pick up Caleb on our way.  I am so

ready for tonight!

HITHE: Right! I've never been on a

party boat.  Will have to watch the 

single guys, make sure they don't

get into too much trouble.

[ H laughs. ]

LITTLE H: You mean Ace.  

HITHE: Don't worry.  Larrie will

be there to keep him under control.

LITTLE H: Oh yeah! And whose gonna

control Larrie?

[ They both laugh, heading out the front

doors. ]

Scene Three: 

[ Club Victory, Entrance Area. ]

[ Victoria is standing outside talking

with her doorman.

Peering down the street at the crowd

of students that have gathered in line,

waiting to be let in. ]

[ Relieved by the turn out, she goes

back inside to locate her DJ boyfriend. 

 

She finds him on stage. ]

TORI: Everything's all good.  See I

told you it would be fine.

[ Kiilyn smiles, turning up his music

to full volume.  Filling the space, bass

bouncing wall to wall as repeated

vocals invoke a trance. ]

KIILYN: I'll never doubt you again.

[ They kiss and she leaves him to

do his thing. 

Meanwhile, on the floor.  A little

ways back. ]

COLLEGEGUY1: Yo.  What happened

to the DJ?  I heard he's one armed now.

COLLEGEGUY2: I gotta see this.

[ They push their way through groups

of people to get to the stage. ]

Scene Four: 

[ Party Boat, Maison City. ]

[ Larrie, Ski, Caleb, Hithe & Little

H are sitting on the deck in lounge

chairs, chatting and enjoying their

drinks. ]

LITTLE H: It's been an hour

since Ace left to pee.  

Guess he fell in.

LARRIE: Yup.  I can guarantee

you he is into something.  

SKI: Like those blondes that we're

sitting at the inside bar when we

got here.  

[ They laugh, toasting their drinks. ]

CALEB: Maybe someone should

check on him.  

[ No one moves so he stands. ]

CALEB: Okay, I'll go check on him.

[ Inside, Caleb finds Acer standing

near the bar, downing his drink &

whispering into a woman's ear. 

Seeing his friend, his voice raises.

Calling out to him. ]

"Hey!  This is Aniya."

[ Acer states, staring straight at her.

They begin to kiss & grope each

other. ]

CALEB: Nice to meet you.

Scene Five:

[ Back To The Dance Floor. ]

[ The bros have made their way

& now are looking up at Kiilyn.

One goes in on an obnoxious

cackle, catching his attention. ]

[ Kiilyn looks down. Seeing them

falling over and being unnecessarily

loud.  People start to notice. 

He cuts the music. Stepping down

into their faces. ]

"I believe these two knuckle heads

over here had something to say."

KIILYN: Why don't you tell everyone

in here what was so funny?

[ They stand there stunned as he 

speaks into the mic. ]

KIILYN: That's what I thought.

[ He turns to walk back but is pushed

from behind.

Catching his balance, he turns. Arm

up, ready to strike. ]

"Kiilyn!"

[ Hearing Victoria's voice, he stops.

Slowly putting his arm down. 

Security follows her, dragging the

guys outside. ]

Scene Six: 

[ Nearby Hotel, Acer's Room. ]

[ Acer is sitting on the bed with his

new friend straddle in his lap.

Clutching her face with his hands,

he continues to lightly peck her

on the cheek. Gleaming into her

eyes as she falls back on the bed

on top of him. ]

"What now?"

[ She teases him by placing a finger

tip into his mouth. ]

ACE: You tell me.

[ He grabs her from behind when 

suddenly the door opens.

Larrie & Ski barge into the front

room. ]

ACE: What are you doing?

You can clearly see I'm busy

right now.

LARRIE: Yeah, well there was a

mix up with the rooms so now

we're sharing your suite.  

ACE: I don't care.  Just get out

for now.  

LARRIE: Sorry, its 3a and Ski's

already knocked out on your

pull out.  

[ Larrie hops into the opposite

bed, looking at his cousin. ]

ACE: Whatever. You're choice.

[ He continues on his conquest,

 paying no mind to Larrie in 

the room. ]

Final Scene: 

[ Club Victory, Office. ]

[ Victoria joins Kiilyn in the back

after the place has emptied. ]

KIILYN: I'm so sorry for that.

I overreacted.  Maybe I do need

to go back to counselling.  

I thought I was dealing okay.

TORI: Hey, you stopped yourself.

From stories I've been told about

when you were younger, that 

wouldn't have happened then. 

KIILYN: No, it wouldn't have.

But now I have you.  

[ After locking up, Kiilyn & Victoria

are in the parking lot.  Worn out now,

they walk to his car.  Holding hands.

They separate as Kiilyn gets near the

driver's side. ]

"What is this?"

[ Kiilyn shines his phone light &

is shook as the word that has been

scratched into his paint becomes

clear. ]

"N-I-G - - - "

“She’s awake.” 

. . . 

 

[ A Couple Weeks Later . . . ] 

 

Scene O n e: 

[ Grrr Camping Site/Center. ] 

 

“The alternates have arrived!” 

 

[ Caleb states in the absence of 

Mark & his brothers. ] 

 

[ He & Little H. join Ski, Grandpa, Jai 

& Chais who are holding drinks and 

sitting around the fire. ] 

 

SKI: Technically Little H. is family. 

 

You’re the only alternate. 

 

[ He teases Caleb.  As they continue 

their conversation. ] 

 

GRANDPA: Your Dad’s problem is he  

thinks everything has to go his way.   

 

Like the world revolves around him! 

 

SKI: He can get a little stubborn.  But 

you have to admit, what you’re doing 

is not the norm. 

 

Especially at your age. 

 

GRANDPA: I understand that.  But he’s 

treating me like his mother and I didn’t 

make this decision together.  I’m not 

trying to end my marriage.  We did this 

to maintain it. 

 

JAI: As long as you and Grandma are 

on the same page.  That’s all that  

really matters. 

 

CHAIS: So, Grandpa.  I gotta ask. 

How was Ski’s mom? 

 

SKI: Hey, shut it! 

 

GRANDPA: We only kissed.  Not that 

that's any of your business, Mister.  

 

Who wants to get the rest of the food 

and things out of the truck for me? 

 

LITTLE H: I got it. 

 

[ Grandpa tosses Little H. his keys 

while Jai follows him to the car. ] 

 

 

Scene T w o: 

[ Meanwhile . . .At A Nearby Beach. ] 

 

[ Diane is sitting on a towel, pouring cham 

-pagne into two glasses.  The waves hit the 

sand as the drinks mix with her pinkish  

juice of choice. ] 

 

[ A tall man in a matching, floral printed  

shirt & short set, sits down next to her. ] 

 

JULIEYN: You’ll never guess what I 

have planned for us after this. 

 

DIANE: Hmm, a ride in a private plane 

around the city? 

 

[ Julieyn shakes his head, holding 

onto her from the side.  

 

She turns to him, with a slight  

smile. ] 

 

DIANE: Alright then.  What about 

some twisted and tragic mystery  

show? 

 

JULIEYN: As intriguing as that 

sounds, you’re not even close. 

 

Give up yet? 

 

[ He silences her with a long  

kiss. ] 

 

 

Scene T h r e e: 

[ Back At The Site . . . ] 

 

[ Little H is holding on to the set 

of keys.  Jai turns around & he 

throws them in his direction. ] 

 

“Could’ve given me a warning.” 

 

[ Jai says, with a perfect catch. ] 

 

LITTLE H: Your grandpa is pissed 

at Mark.  I don’t see how they ever 

are going to repair this. 

 

JAI: Yeah, he’s been going on and 

on since before you got here.  

Never seen him so upset. 

 

Ski’s been trying desperately 

to change the subject. 

 

[ Little H laughs. ] 

 

LITTLE H: And failing, I bet.   

 

JAI: Maybe Caleb will have better 

luck.   

 

LITTLE H: We’ll see. 

 

[ He sees Jai stare at the keys. ] 

 

LITTLE H: What’s up? 

 

JAI: There are keys to TA on 

here. 

 

LITTLE H: Keys? 

 

JAI: This one is a master key. 

I have one for Care.  All the 

managers do.  And this one 

is a grand master. 

 

LITTLE H: What’s that for? 

 

JAI: Every store in the district.   

 

Scene F o u r: 

[ Inside Julieyn’s F-150. ] 

 

“You still won’t tell me 

where we’re going?” 

 

JULIEYN: Don’t worry. 

 

We’re getting close. 

 

[ He turns off the main road 

& starts driving through the  

dirt. ] 

 

DIANE: If I didn’t know you 

better, I’d might be thinking 

you were taking me back here 

to kill me. 

 

[ They laugh. ] 

 

JULIEYN: My house is aways back. 

 

I just wanted you to meet 

some of my family members. 

 

DIANE: That’s sweet. 

 

[ Approaching the estate, he parks in 

a roundabout.  Walking to Diane’s 

side, he opens the door. ] 

 

DIANE: This is beautiful.   

 

“Hey, Uncle Juls!” 

 

[ Diane steps down & is stunned,  

seeing the young man taking  

strides in their direction. ] 

 

 

Scene F i v e: 

[ Simon Family Camping. ] 

 

[ Jai returns the keys minus the 

looted pair & takes a seat by 

Chais & Jenni.  

 

Cracking open a beer, he eyes 

his Grandpa from across the  

fire. ] 

 

GRANDMA: What a perfect night. 

 

[ Caleb notices Jai’s look of fury. ] 

 

CALEB: What’s going on? 

 

[ He whispers to him. ] 

 

JAI: I think Grandpa is the one 

whose been sabotaging the 

store. 

 

[ Caleb looks surprised. ] 

 

JAI: Why did you have keys to 

TA? 

 

[ He stands up, his yell breaking 

through side chats. ] 

 

SKI: What? 

 

[ Jai repeats himself, louder as the 

group turns to Grandpa. ] 

 

JAI: Are you the one whose 

been screwing with us this  

entire summer? 

 

[ As his Grandpa starts to speak 

they are interrupted. ] 

 

“Hey guys.” 

 

[ Mark & Uncle Josh arrive. ] 

 

 

Scene S i x: 

[ Late Night . . .Julieyn’s. ] 

 

“Caleon?” 

 

CALEON: Hey Diane. 

 

[ He casually replies. ] 

 

JULIEYN: Wait.  You two know 

each other? **** 

 

DIANE: Only in a business sense. 

 

JULIEYN: Oh yeah?   

 

DIANE: Please tell me your Dad  

is not here. 

 

CALEON: Yeah, he’s inside.   

 

DIANE: Great! 

 

[ She sighs, as they walk in.  

 

A massive chandelier is hanging 

in the entrance. ] 

 

[ Julieyn takes Diane’s hand  

leading  her downstairs. ] 

 

[ She is greeted by multitudes  

of relatives.  Getting lost in the 

introductions, she doesn’t notice 

Caleon’s Dad slip in from the  

back room with his other uncle. ] 

 

 

CALS UNC2: Who is she? 

 

 

Scene S e v e n: 

[ Continuing. . . ] 

 

“That weird woman I caught  

in my son’s bedroom a few 

months ago.” 

 

CALS UNC2: Can’t believe Juls 

is into her. 

 

CALS DAD: He won’t be once he 

finds out.  

 

She’s a creep.  And I’m going to  

make sure she never comes near 

my son again! 

 

[ Caleon walks up to them. ] 

 

CALEON: I got her here. 

 

Now what?
