Final Hour

SCENE 1

Outside the Telazon’s.

[ Airynn & his younger brother

are sitting on the porch when

Markis drives into the driveway. ]

MARKIS: I knew you’d be home.

Hey Billy, what’s good?

BILLY: Nothing if I’m hanging

with him.

[ He points to Airynn while

getting up & walking inside. ]

AIRYNN: Anyway, are we still

hitting up that strip club

tonight? 

MARKIS: Right, about that.

I can’t go, man.  Something

came up. 

[ He stops talking & looks away. ]

MARKIS: But we can chill now.

So, what’s going on at TA?

Everyone cool?

AIRYNN: Not hardly.  Jeszyca

was fired for getting violent

with a customer.

Joh’s no longer a Witness and

he decided to take the rebellious

route.  That’s just the start. 

MARKIS: Wow.  So much drama.

Just like that crazy place too.

AIRYNN:  I know.  Remember what

happened on your first shift?

SCENE 2:

Meanwhile, at the Hospital.

[ Larrie is exiting his cousin’s

room when Mark arrives. ]

“Hey, how’s Ace?”

LARRIE: He’s knocked out

right now.  They have him

on some medicine for the

pain. 

MARK: Alright, that’s good.

I’m gonna sit with him in

the room until he wakes

up, if that’s cool.

LARRIE: Sure.  Then I can go

get some real food.

If they say anything, just

act like you’re his brother.

[ Larrie leaves & Mark goes

inside.  He moves a chair next

to the bed and sits quietly.

A few minutes later. ]

“Mark, you came.”

MARK: Of course.  How is

your arm doing?

ACE: Better, I guess.  The

meds are working somewhat

but they put me to sleep. 

MARK: Damn, that too bad

but at least you know what

the next step is.  I mean,

at least there is one.

 

ACE:  Yeah.  Not for me.

SCENE 3:

After Airynn’s question. . .

[ From Episode 209 ‘Love Me Dead’ ]

[ Inside TA. . .Airynn, Markis, Joh, Weis

& Larrie are all waiting for their shift to start ]

. . . . .

AIRYNN: So Joh, how was knocking on those

doors last Saturday?

Get any slammed in your face?

MARKIS: Wait, what?

AIRYNN: Yeah, I caught him trying to preach

to my girl…He’s one of those witness people

MARKIS: Damn, for real?

They’re fucking annoying!

. . . . .

[ breaks the silence ] WEIS: Anyways, Airynn…

Why do you give a shit?

AIRYNN: Oh, so your his spokesperson

now?

[ stands up ] JOH: No actually, I don’t need

anyone to speak for me. . . [ gets in his face ]

How are you gonna go behind my back

when you know I liked Marisa?

[ backs up ] AIRYNN: What does it matter?

It’s not like you could’ve dated her

anyway

JOH: That’s not the point, Airynn!

You are supposed to be my friend

. . . . .

JOH: Just forget it dude!

I’m going to start. . . [ walks away ]

MARKIS: Man, if this is how it’s gonna

be. . .

I’m glad I started working here

SCENE 4:

Back at the Hospital.

“What do you mean by

that?  I hope you’re joking.”

ACE: I mean.  What’s the point?

I’ll probably be dealing with

this illness for the rest of my

life anyway.

Why put myself through more

bull just for the same result?

[ Ace gets up & walks toward

the window. ]

MARK: You don’t know that

man.  Any chance is better

than no chance at all. 

I know you’ve been going

through this for awhile

but now is not the time

to give up. 

ACE: You’re right.  I’ve dealt

with so much this year.  Barely

working.  Having to ask Karie

for help with things I could

more than afford before.

Drives me crazy inside. 

MARK: Yeah, I hear ya.

ACE: And now all I can think in

my head.  Over and over again.

[ Ace looks up at Mark. ]

What is my last chance doesn’t
work?

SCENE 5:

Meanwhile, at the Telazon’s.

[ Markis & Airynn are laughing ]

MARKIS: Yeah, that was good.  Let’s

not forget why you got me fired.

AIRYNN: I knew that was coming.

[ From Episode '303 You're A Jerk' ]

[ Back up front, customers are going

through self check while Markis walks

by the window. . . ]

[ on the phone ] ‘Hey man, it’s almost

light out. . .Are you coming?’

MARKIS: Alright hurry, bye

. . . . .

[ The customer walks away just

as Trae and D’Ondrae arrive ]

D’ONDRAE: Is it safe?

MARKIS: Yeah, it’s cool

D’ONDRAE: Alright man, here

[ hands him cash ]

[ Markis pockets the cash and

then hands him a bag from

his jacket ]

MARKIS: Yeah, I’ve done a lot

of growing up since then.

AIRYNN: At least you stopped.

[ Markis stands up. ]

MARKIS: Listen, I didn’t just come

here to recall old times.

There’s something serious I

have to tell you.

AIRYNN: What’s going on?

MARKIS: I’m moving to LA,

man.  Tonight.

SCENE 6:

[ Mark has his arm on Ace’s

shoulder as he is about to

leave.  ]

MARK: Take care of yourself.

Okay.

Hey Karie.

[ Mark walks out & Karie sits down

by Ace. ]

KARIE: I know you don’t want

to do this but I was doing some

research and it’s actually a painless

process.  I’ll sit with you through

everyday of it.

[ Ace smiles, sitting up. ]

ACE:  You don’t have to do that.

I’m sorry about the way I’ve

been acting too. 

KARIE: It’s okay.  I know this

could not have came at a

worse time with the Salon in

it’s first year and everything.

ACE: Hey, it’s life.  My life.

And I’m going to start living

it no matter what happens.

No more excuses.

SCENE 1:

Next morning, At TA. . .

[ Mark enters the store & is greeted

by the morning cashier. ]

“Hey, how was your vacation?”

MARK: Really good.

Thanks for asking. How

are things around here?

SYRIA: Oh, you know.

Same old, same old.

[ Suddenly Hahn approaches

Mark with a look of concern.

They walk into the assistant’s

office. ]

MARK: So, what’s up?

HAHN: Well, we lost $350 worth

of product the other day.  Some

was stolen, the rest left out to

melt all over the floor.

[ Mark doesn’t answer. ]

HAHN: Hey boss.  Did you hear me?

MARK: Yes sorry.  You reported it to

Jim right?

HAHN: Yeah, he wants you to run

the cameras and try and figure 

out what happened.

MARK: Alright, I will later. Thanks.

[ Hahn leaves.  Distracted, Mark

attempts to reach Ace but there’s

no response. ]

SCENE 2:

At a studio downtown.

[ Markis is on the mic & Trey

Is sitting, running the boards. ]

TREY: Nice bro.  So, you seen

Michelle around?

She hasn’t hit me up in awhile.

MARKIS: Naw man.  Tie said

she’s been MIA.  But don’t

worry, I’m sure she’ll make

it back around to you.

[ Trey laughs & Markis comes

over, sitting down. ]

MARKIS: You heard from Weis

since he went mad crazy on you?

TREY: Nope.

[ Trey looks away from him. ]

MARKIS: Can’t believe he basically

pistol whipped your ass. 

TREY: Shut up.  Anyway, you’re

wasting valuable time.  I suggest

you focus on your raps if we’re

ever gonna finish this mixtape.

MARKIS: Alright, alright.

I got you.

[ Trey sighs, turning the music

back up. . . ]

SCENE 3:

In Mark’s office.

[ Mark is trying to concentrate

on some paper work but all

he can think about is why Ace

isn’t returning his call.

Frustrated, he dials the number

to the Salon. ]

“TA Salon, how can I help you?”

MARK: Hey Hithe, is Acer there?

HITHE: Nope. He called off today.

MARK: Okay, thanks.

[ Hithe hangs up & Mark makes

another call. ]

MARK: Sorry for waking you,

I just really need to talk to

someone.

SKI: You’re fine.  What’s

going on?

MARK: It’s about Ace.  He’s

really sick and he wants to

keep it a secret. Karie doesn’t

even know.

SKI: Wow, how bad is it?

MARK: Very.  I feel like he’s slipping 

away and there’s nothing I can

do about it.

SCENE 4:

Back at the Studio. . .

[ Markis is wrapped up

& Trey is sitting in the

room alone. ]

“Ugh, why did Markis

have to mention him?”

[ Looking outside, he sees his

brother & Markis.  Now chilling

inside his car.

With no one around, he turns

the music back on & enters

the booth. ]

“You flew off the handle. 

Rage deep in your eyes.

But even as things sit,

I still consider you a prize.”

DEONDRE: Whoa, what was

that about? I’ve never seen

you try to spit.

[ Trey comes out. ]

TREY: Nothing, just messing

around.

DEONDRE: Listen, I have to

tell you something.

It’s about Michelle.

SCENE 5:

Back at TA. . .

 [ Mark is in his office, searching

through the security screens

from a couple days ago.

All of sudden he sees two

familiar young boys walk

right into the store. ]

MARK: Oh shit.

[ Minutes later, after he gets

off the phone with his boss

Jim, Hahn comes back ]

HAHN: Hey, did you figure

it out yet?

MARK: Yeah and you will

never guess who it was.

HAHN: Really, who?

MARK: My son Chais and his

friend Billy.  Thankfully Jim

doesn’t want to press charges.

But that boy better run when

I get home.

HAHN: At least now you know

who took your keys.

[ Hahn laughs. ]

MARK: Yup. I think I’m

gonna take off a little early.

I’ll see you tomorrow.

SCENE 6:

Outside the Studio.

[ Trey and his brother DeOndre

are smoking in his car. ]

TREY: It’s puff, puff pass.

You’re babysitting it.

[ DeOndre laughs & hands it

to him. ]

TREY: Now what did you want

to tell me, bro.

DEONDRE: There’s a rumor going

around town that Shell is

pregnant.

TREY: So? It could be anyone’s.

DEONDRE: Right but I stopped

fucking with her a long time

ago.

That leaves you. . .

TREY: And Markis?

DEONDRE: Right.

So what are you gonna do?

[ Trey looks down at his phone,

hiding the pic he is looking at. ]

TREY: Nothing.

" 1 Last Shop (Part 1) "

SCENE 1: Kyle enters TA, exhausted

from carts.

[ Standing in the entrance, he takes
out his phone. Looking around, Kyle
quickly checks his voicemail. ]

“Hey, it’s Marty. . .”

[ He sighs in annoyance. ]

“I know we just chilled
but something came up.
Call me laters alright. “

[ Just as Kyle has hung up, his
girlfriend Monica appears. ]

MONCA: Hey, I need you to
take Syria off for her break
in a few.
KYLE: Sure thing babe.

[ He follows Monica inside,
stopping near Syria’s lane.   ]

KYLE: You would think
this place would fall
apart if I weren’t around.
MONICA: Nope, we just need
more baggers.   And if I were
you I wouldn’t act so cocky.

Mark wasn’t too happy when he
found out you left us hanging
two days last week.
KYLE: I had good reason.

[ Monica shakes her head &
walks away from him. ]


SCENE 2: In Trey’s driveway. . .

[ Weis starts toward the side
door but Trey grabs his arm. ]

TREY: Hold up a second.
WEIS: What? I know how you
want me to act around
your friends.  We’ve been
through this.
TREY: It’s not about that.
Markis is here too.

[ They separate, face to face now. ]

WEIS: I use to work with
him.  He’s cool really.  I
could tell him right now
if you want.

[ Trey looks dead into Weis’
eyes. ]

TREY: Does that really sound
like something I’d want you
to do?

[ Trey tries to hold his face but
soon cracks a huge smile. ]


[ Inside the house now, Weis excuses
himself into the bathroom.  Shutting
the door behind him, he immediately sees
a black box sitting in the shower tub.

Curious, he sits down & starts to open
the case.  Seeing the shiny, black gun
Weis drops it in surprise. ]


SCENE 3: An outside Café

[ Ski, Hithe, & Amber are
seated having lunch. ]

SKI: So, you never told
me how your weekend
away went.  Did you get
to relax any?
AMBER: No, not exactly.
I ended up sharing my
room and most of my time
with a guy there.

[ Hithe & Ski both stop eating.
They look at her in shock. ]

AMBER: Long story,
anyway he was nice. We
might meet up again.
HITHE: Well, that’s cool.
You seduce a stranger in
a few days. Meanwhile I’m
single and my partner has
grown to despise me.

SKI: Let me guess, Ace found
about the money.
AMBER: Found out what?
I heard you saved what
you put into the Salon.

[ Amber looks at Hithe, waiting
for an explanation.  Suddenly
Ski’s phone rings, recognizing
the number, he gets up &
quickly leaves the table. ]


SCENE 4: Back at T.A.

[ Kyle finishes checking out
a customer when Monica
comes back. ]

MONICA: Now don’t get
upset, but…
KYLE: Mark wants to see
me in his office, right?

[ She hands Kyle the new
schedule & he looks. ]

KYLE: Is this a joke?
Two of my days were
cut. That’s almost
half my check!
MONICA: I know.  And
I can’t help you.

[ She leaves as Syria
returns from break. ]

SYRIA: Thank you sir.
KYLE: No, thank you.
This store is slowly
driving me insane.
SYRIA: You seem stressed,
what’s going on Kyle?

[ Before he can answer a
customer distracts Syria.

Walking toward the time
clock, he pulls out his phone
& sees a text from Marty.
Kyle shuts off his phone. ]


SCENE 5: Trey’s basement.

[ Weis, Trey, Markis &
DeOndre are sitting around
the table playing cards. ]

“Let me tell you about
the other night. “

MARKIS: Imagine waking
up from a dead, sleep
and right in your face
are two, round, perfect
WEIS: I think we get
the point dude.

[ DeOndre starts to laugh at the
disgusted look on Weis’ face. ]

DEONDRE: Good to know
she’s still easy.
TREY: Oh. You must mean
Michelle.
DEONDRE: Yup. From your
bro to your bro to your
cousin.  She don’t have
no shame.
TREY: Don’t I know.

[ Weis immediately shifts his
look onto Trey disturbed
by what he just heard. ]

TREY: Well, I think these two
are done getting their asses
whipped. Ready to go bro?
WEIS: Sure, I’ll meet you outside.


SCENE 6: At a local gym. . .

[ Kyle enters, changed & ready for
a workout.  Walking toward his
normal bench he sees a familiar
face lifting weights. ]

KYLE: Wow, is this a ghost
or the real Ace Mackie
standing before me?
ACE: Well, hey man.
It’s been awhile.
KYLE: I know, it’s like you
disappeared into the Salon.
ACE: Yeah, or Karie.

[ They both laugh. ]

ACE: I called you earlier.
KYLE: Yeah, I’m avoiding someone.
ACE: I see.  If it’s who I think,
don’t worry about it.  I mean,
I get best friends. . .but damn!

[ Meanwhile at Mark & Ski’s house. ]

CHASE: You’ve been sitting at
that desk for an hour.  Are we
ever gonna leave?
SKI: I told you I’m dealing with a
work problem.  Damn it, where
is your dad?

CHASE: Not here.  Fine, I’ll just
walk to Billy’s then.

[ Before Chase leaves, he notices
Mark’s bedroom door open.  Going
inside, Chase opens the nightstand
grabbing a set of keys. ]


SCENE 7: Trey’s driveway. . .

[ Trey is waiting by the car
when Weis appears all of
a sudden. ]

TREY: Yeah, that didn’t
take long.  I knew you
could’ve waited.

[ He starts to walk on &
instead of Weis getting
in on the other side, he
follows behind Trey. ]

TREY: What’s up? They’ll
be time for sitting on my
lap later on.
WEIS: Oh yeah, is that
what you told that bitch?

You got with her too, right?

[ Trey backs up in surprise. ]

TREY: I’ve done her.  But you knew
the deal, alright?  It’s not like we're
dating or anything.

[ Before Trey can say anymore
Weis removes his hand from
behind his back revealing Trey’s
gun to him.  Holding it in the
air, Weis whips the gun hard
onto Trey’s face & watches
as he falls to the ground. ]

WEIS: Go screw your nasty
girlfriend!

[ He drops the gun down
walking away. . . ]

" Fury Aisle "

SCENE 1: Night shift at TA.

[ Jeszyca is standing at the self-check

station when Ski, Larrie, and Weis

approach her from behind. ]

SKI: Hey, someone left this blade

thingy over by customer service. 

JESZYCA: You mean a Swiss army 

knife?

SKI: Yeah, that’s it.  Can you 

lock it up until Hahn gets here

in the morning?

JESZYCA: Sure thing boss.

[ She stifles a laugh as Larrie smirks

at her and walks on with Weis. ]

SKI: We’re heading to get some

food.  You want anything from

that all-night diner?

JESZYCA: No thanks.  

SKI:  Alright.  See ya later.

[ Jeszyca can hear Weis’ voice

calling from the door. ]

‘You said I could drive, right?’

[ Weis holds up Ski's keys, smiles &

takes off for the door.  Larrie & Ski

trail after him.  ]

[ Minutes later the front end is empty & 

silent when a couple enters TA.  Stumbling 

along, they reach the closest restroom & 

head inside. ]

SCENE 2: Meanwhile in Aisle 9.

 [ Airynn is putting up 2 liter bottles

when he slips into a daydream. ]

Flashback: Episode 324*

[ He turns around

and backs up. ]

AIRYNN: Who the

hell are you?

TREY: A messenger.

[ Thinking back to that night, he recalls how

his chain hit the ground.  Not thinking

Airynn grabs for his neck, dropping the

 bottles & they hit the floor hard. ]

STUU: Hey bro, you alright?

[ Airynn looks over, then down.  Startled at 

 the growing mess beneath him. ]

AIRYNN: I’m…good.  You know where

that powder shit is before Ski gets

back and freaks on me.  

STUU: It’s in the back room.

AIRYNN: Cool, thanks.

[ Airynn wipes his forehead, half smiling he 

walks away toward the back.  Now out of

sight, he takes a puff of his inhaler, & leans

up against the wall. ]

SCENE 3: In the women’s restroom.

FEMALE: I can’t believe you followed

me in here.  What if that worker lady

comes back?

MAN: Well, the door is locked.  And

I don’t really care.

[ He pushes the women against the sink,

moving his hands up her legs & right

underneath her skirt. ]

FEMALE: You don’t care because

you’re wasted.  We should’ve

stayed at home.

Come on.  We’re leaving.

[ She turns around and is shocked

by the expression on his face. ]

[ Outside the door, Jeszyca returns to

her station.  Suddenly she hears a man’s

raised voice coming from the restroom.

Kneeling by the door, she listens.  ]

“Ahh!”

[ With the sound of a muffled sceam, 

Jeszyca grabs for the handles realizing

the door is locked.

Wrestling through a drawer, she spots

the knife.  Clutching onto it, she unlocks

the door and quietly enters. ]

SCENE 4: In a back room.  

[ Airynn is bundling cardboard when

he hears a pounding sound near

the garage doors.  As he gets closer,

the knocking starts again, louder. ]

“Alright, cut this silly crap.

Who is outside?”

[ Without warning he starts to raise

the door, in plain view now Airynn is 

shocked by who he finds. ]

AIRYNN: What are you doing here?

Do you want to go to jail?

[ He starts to back up while Markis

comes inside. ]

MARKIS: Man, relax!

AIRYNN: Why should I?  I know the

type of shit you get into.  You

even dragged my ex along too.

MARKIS: Wow.  I’m glad I risked

my own ass to bring you this.

[ He takes the ‘KING’ necklace

out of his pocket as Airynn stares

in disbelief. ]

AIRYNN: How did you?  Wait, a second…

You’re the one who attacked me that

night.  

MARKIS: No, I didn’t.  But I can show

you who did.

SCENE 5: Up front at TA. . .

[ Ski, Weis, & Larrie return to the store.  

As the other two head back to work, 

Larrie notices Jeszyca is not around. ]

[ Passing by the restrooms he hears

a woman crying & goes to knock on

the door.  

With no answers, he looks around

& quickly comes in. ]

“Jess?”

[ Seeing the blade on the ground

now, he immediately backs up. ]

JESZYCA: I heard a woman yell.

[ She starts, struggling through tears

It’s hard for her to speak. ]

JESZYCA: I don’t know what I was

thinking.  I grabbed the blade for

protection, but he wouldn’t stop.

I told him to leave and he just

 kept on.

LARRIE: What? What was going on? 

JESZYCA: He was forcing himself

on her. He knocked me down so

I took the blade and jammed it

into his leg.  He ran & she went

after him.

LARRIE: Oh my god, Jess.

JESZYCA: What am I gonna do?

[ Larrie picks up the knife as

Jeszyca burst into tears. ]

LARRIE: Don’t worry.  I’ll get rid

of it.  It will be alright, I promise.

[ He sits down & she falls into his arms. ]

SCENE 6: In the alley between TA &

TA Salon. . .

[ Weis is smoking outside & Airynn

approaches him. ]

AIRYNN: It’s been one hell of a night.

WEIS: Uh.  Yeah, I guess. You’re

talking to me?

[ Airynn laughs a little. ]

AIRYNN: Markis was here.

WEIS: Really, what for?

AIRYNN: He had some information

about my attacker.

WEIS: Oh.  That’s good.   What

are you gonna do about it?

[ Airynn puts his arm on Weis’

shoulder to get his attention.  Now

looking right at him. ]

AIRYNN: Not a damn thing.
