If You're Gone Part 2

SCENE 1:

Chiba, Japan.

[ Jenni’s grandparent’s house. ]

JENNI: So how have you been

feeling?

[ She looks at her grandmother. ]

GMOTHER: I’ve been fine.  Just fine.

What about the two of you?

[ She smiles at Chais. ]

GFATHER: That’s not true.  She had

a bad fall the other day.

JENNI: No wonder you’ve been

sitting so much.

GMOTHER: It’s not that bad. Just

have to take it easy for a couple

weeks.

JENNI: You need help during the

day.

GFATHER: I’ve been staying home

with her.

GMOTHER: But not anymore. We

need you working.  I can manage.

[ She attempts to get up, slowly

& in obvious pain.  Chais walks

toward her. ]

CHAIS: Here, let me help you.

[ Jenni’s grandfather shakes his

head while Jenni looks concerned. ]

SCENE 2:

Morning back home, TA.

[ Hahn is watching from a distance

as Landyn is checking out a long

line of customers.  He waits for

a break to approach him.  ]

HAHN: How does it feel to

have so many fans?

LANDYN: I wouldn’t call it that.

HAHN: Every time you help out

there’s a bigger crowd around

here.

LANDYN: Really?

HAHN: No doubt, man. Anyway

do you have any advice on how

I can get Syria to talk to me?

LANDYN: Sure do.  Don’t be a

stalker.  Give her time to come

to you.

[ Meanwhile, break room. ]

SYRIA: I think I may have jump

to conclusions about Hahn.

What do you think?

KRISTYN: Maybe.

[ Syria gives her a look. ]

KRISTYN: Sorry.  I’m not really

the expert on this.  I suggest

you just talk to him.

SCENE 3:

Overseas, Japan.

[ After a few days, Jenni &

Chais prepare to head back

to their friends in Tokyo. ]

CHAIS: This was fun.  Actually

this whole summer has been

pretty awesome.

JENNI: I know and you didn’t

even want to come.

[ He smiles. ]

CHAIS: Yes, I can be dumb.

But it’s cute and you like it!

JENNI: You wish.

[ She taps him on the nose

& they kiss. ]

CHAIS: Ready to go home

tomorrow? Can’t believe school

starts back in two weeks. 

[ Jenni stays silent. ]

CHAIS: What are you thinking

about so hard?

[ She looks away. ]

JENNI: I think I should stay

here for awhile and help out.

CHAIS: You’re not serious. 

SCENE 4:

At Syria’s house.

[ Hahn enters and shuts the

door behind him. ]

SYRIA: Thanks for coming.

[ They sit down in the living

room. ]

HAHN: I’m sorry about the

other day.  I realize I

got carried away.

SYRIA:  If we don’t trust

each other, this is never

going to last.

[ Hahn looks down. ]

HAHN: And you still want

it to?

SYRIA: I do. 

[ Hahn sighs & Syria kisses

him on the cheek. ]

SYRIA: By the way, one of

our fellow employees has

gotten themselves in a big

mess with Mark.

HAHN: Oh yeah.  Who?

SCENE 5:

Tokyo Airport.

[ Jai & Kiilyn are sitting next

to each other. ]

KIILYN: Those two better hurry

up.  We board in 20 minutes.

JAI: Yeah, I know.  Can’t believe

Jenni’s not coming with us.

KIILYN:  How’s your brother?

JAI: Who knows. 

[ Elsewhere in the Airport, Chais

& Billy are walking back. ]

CHAIS: Jenni said to tell you

have a safe flight.

BILLY: Cool, so are you okay?

You know she’s coming back.

CHAIS: What if she doesn’t

though?

BILLY: She’s not gonna leave

her friends, school, job. Oh,

and then there’s you.

CHAIS: Funny.

[ They arrive with the other two. ]

JAI: Finally.  Our flight is about

to board.

CHAIS: Good. Let’s go.

SCENE 6:

In Mark’s Office.

[ Mark is sitting across

from Charles who looks

worried. ]

MARK: What do you have

to say?

CHARLES: It was a huge mistake.

I’m sorry.  Me and the wife

we’re struggling that week

with bills.  I know that’s not

an excuse.

[ He looks up at Mark. ]

CHARLES: If you have to fire

me, I’ll understand.  Please

don’t tell Sandie why though.

[ Mark stands up & walks to

the other side of the room. ]

MARK: I’m not going to fire you.

CHARLES: Thank you. I really

appreciate it.

MARK: Next time.  Just talk to

me.  Okay?  My door is

always open.

[ Charles stands up to leave. ]

CHARLES: See you Monday?

MARK: See ya Monday.

If You're Gone Part 1

SCENE 1:

Tokyo, Deb’s Balcony.

[ Chais & Billy are talking

outside. ]

BILLY: So what’s Jen inside

doing?

CHAIS: She’s on the phone.

Anyway, don’t try and change

the subject.  You spent all your

shopping cash.  So where’d all

that money I saw come from?

BILLY: Fine.  I met this guy who

likes to record me.  He pays me.

CHAIS: Okay.  So you’re messing

around with some dude now?

BILLY: No, no.  It’s just about me.

CHAIS: You mean, jerking off

for him. Why would you

do that? I don’t get it.

BILLY: I don’t know.  He was nice
to me.

CHAIS: Yeah, I bet.  How old is he,

40. . . . .50?

BILLY: Ski’s age.

CHAIS: You’re so naïve, man.

He was taking advantage of

you.  Your ass is probably all

over the net by now.  Literally.

[ He gets up, opening the sliding

glass door. ]

BILLY: What’s up?

CHAIS: Come on.  We’re going

to find this creep.

SCENE 2:

Back home, at The Aisles.

[ Syria enters Mark’s office. ]

MARK: Hey, I need your opinion

on something.

SYRIA: Sure, you look worried.

What’s going on?

MARK: Just something I’ve never

had to deal with before. I noticed

the sales figures for our big sale

didn’t match the paperwork.

SYRIA: That’s weird.

MARK: Yeah, I know. So I look

further into it and sure enough

$200 was missing.

SYRIA: Wow, what happened?

MARK: All I know is only two

people had access to the

money.  Charles and

SYRIA: Hahn.  You don’t think

it was him, do you?

MARK: I don’t.  But I’m gonna

get to the bottom of this.

[ Later on, Syria is walking to the

outdoor diner across the street.

Seeing her ex-husband Dyminic

sitting at the table, she joins him. ]

SCENE 3:

Back overseas.

[ Chais & Billy get off the bus

and walk into a local park. ]

BILLY: You’re wasting your time. 

I’m not gonna tell you if he’s

here.

CHAIS: I don’t understand why

you’re protecting this sicko.

Did you like it?

BILLY: Dude no.  It was just for

the money.  I swear.

CHAIS: Alright then.

[ Chais sits down on a bench. ]

CHAIS: I’m sure he’ll be around

here some time.  You meet up

like every day.  Right?

BILLY: Yeah so.

[ After a couple hours, Chais

is starting to wonder off when

someone calls for Billy. ]

BILLY: Hey, you should probably

get out of here. 

CAMERAGUY: Why?  Not feeling

like much of a star today?

BILLY:  You used those videos. 

Didn’t you?

[ Suddenly Chais wakes up & notices

them talking.  He gets off the bench,

 immediately headed for the stranger. ]

SCENE 4:

Outside TA.

[ Hahn steps out for some fresh air

& starts looking around.  Peering

across the street, he spots his

girlfriend Syria and a man he doesn’t

recognize having lunch together.

Before he can think, Hahn grabs

his keys, staring in their direction. ]

[ Across the street. ]

SYRIA: Thanks for meeting me.

It’s good when we can still be

somewhat normal around each

other.

DYMINIC: Come on, Sear.  Of

course we can.

[ She smiles at him, but they are

soon interrupted by a car

screeching to a stop on the

street beside them.

Hahn gets out in hurry. ]

HAHN: What the hell is going

on out here?

[ Syria buries her head, while

Dyminic looks away. ]

SCENE 5:

Back at the Park.

BILLY: Chais, wait!

[ Before he can finish, Chais

pushes the stranger, knocking

him over.  He quickly stands up,

but Chais is about to hit him. ]

BILLY: I told him I was eighteen.

[ Chais slowly puts his hand down

& the guy runs away. ]

CHAIS: What?

BILLY: I lied.  I’m sorry. Just

keep it to yourself please.

[ He sits back on the bench

while Chais is in silence.

Later, back at Deb’s. ]

JAI: Fighting, really? Come on bro.

You’re no thug.

[ He teases Chais while Jenni

sits down next to them. ]

JENNI: So some guy was

just being an asshole.

That’s it?

[ He looks over at Billy. ]

CHAIS: Yeah.  That’s it.

SCENE 6:

Inside Hahn’s car.

[ He’s talking to Syria. ]

SYRIA: You’re acting insane!

You knew we had to meet

up to go over assets at some

point.  What’s the deal?

HAHN: I’m sorry.  I didn’t

know it was Dyminic. 

SYRIA:  You think I would

just have lunch with some

random guy?

HAHN: No, I really don’t.

[ He goes to hug onto Syria

& she backs away. ]

SYRIA: Don’t right now, Hahn.

HAHN: What do you mean?

SYRIA: I’ve dealt with guys

like you before.  I refuse to

do it again.

HAHN: Like me?

SYRIA: Yes.  I don’t need to

be controlled.

[ She opens the door &

walks out.  Leaving him

alone. ]

Virtual Insanity

SCENE 1:

At Monica’s house.

[  She enters, holding a large

shopping bag.  Seeing Kyle on

the couch, Monica sits down

on his lap. ]

MONICA: Hey, I got your message.

KYLE: I see.  Does your response have

anything to do with the contents of

that bag?

MONICA: You’re catching on.

[ She kisses Kyle, letting her tongue

linger a little in his mouth. ]

KYLE: Nice.  Show me.

[ Monica gets up & sits next to him. ]

MONICA: What about the food you’re

making.  It smells great, by the way.

KYLE:  Thanks.  That won’t be done

for awhile. 

MONICA: In that case.  Let’s get

started.

[ With those words, Monica gets off

the couch.  Heading to their bedroom,

she turns & tosses her shirt at Kyle.

He then follows her to the back. ]

SCENE 2:

Meanwhile, overseas.

[ Billy, Chais, & Jenni are

walking in a local shopping

district. Jenni walks off. ]

CHAIS: Sure you don’t wan’t

to join us at whatever crap

thing we’re gong to next?

[ He makes a face. ]

BILLY: No, I’m just gonna walk

around the park.

CHAIS: Fine man.  Just don’t get

lost.  See you in two hours.

BILLY:   Alright.  See ya.

[ Chais & Jenni leave while

Billy continues to walk on.  He

sees a few people walking past

in a rush.  Then a young man

with a camera, sitting on the side

catches his eye. ]

CAMERAGUY: Hi.  You have a second

to talk?

BILLY: Maybe.  Why are you filming me?

CAMERAGUY: It’s for a documentary I’m

doing.  Is it alright if I ask you a few

questions?

BILLY: Sure, I guess.

CAMERAGUY: Fine.  Why don’t we go

in the corner over there?  I’ll get you

in better lighting.

[ Billy slowly follows him. ]

SCENE 3:

In Monica’s bedroom.

“Is that a. . . . .”

MONICA: Dominatrix outfit.

Told ya, I know how to spice

things up.

Now lay down on the bed.

On your stomach.

[ Kyle obeys in silence.

Waiting for her next move.

Monica takes a long feather

and drags it all the way down

his back side. ]

KYLE: Ohhh.

MONICA: Don’t speak!

You must remain silent.

[ She now uses a blindfold

to hinder his view. ]

MONICA: That’s better.

[ She turns Kyle around

& he looks at her in surprise.

Reaching, he tries to get a

kiss but she teasingly rejects

him.

After Kyle attempts to remove

his blindfold, Monica thinks

of a proper punishment. ]

SCENE 4:

A public park corner.

[ Billy is sitting on a bench. ]

CAMERAGUY: You’re American, correct?

BILLY: Yes.  I’m just visiting for the summer.

CAMERAGUY: I understand.  And just to be

clear, how old are you?

[ Billy stops talking & looks away for

a brief second. ]

BILLY: Eighteen.  Uh, it’s a before

college trip.  Here with some

friends.

[ His hand starts to shake as

he looks up. ]

CAMERAGUY: And a girlfriend, I

imagine.

Don’t take this the wrong way

but you’re a handsome guy. 

BILLY: Thanks.  I’ve never had

a girlfriend.

CAMERA: Why is that?

BILLY: I don’t know, man.

Girls are confusing.

[ They both laugh.  Billy looks

down & can now see what fills

the camera guy’s bag. ]

BILLY: Whoa.  What’s all that for?

SCENE 5:

Back at Monica’s.

[ Kyle is still laying stretched out

on the bed & Monica has arranged

various fruit to cover his body.

Picking a strawberry from off

his belly button, she shoves it

in his mouth.  Looking down,

she can’t help but smile & then

starts to laugh. ]

KYLE: Is this part of it?

MONICA: No, no.  I can’t do

all this.  I like regular sex.  If

that makes me boring.

KYLE: Of course not. Our

sex life is fantastic.  We don’t

need to change anything.

MONICA: That’s good.  Glad

you like it.

KYLE: I love it.  Now let’s

finish what you started.

[ She gets on top of him

& they roll over. ]

KYLE: Oh crap!  The food.

SCENE 6:

Park bathroom.

[ Billy is standing by

the wall. ]

BILLY: You give people money

in exchange for doing things?

CAMERAGUY: That’s right.

BILLY: What would I have to

do?

CAMERAGUY: Look down.

[ He zooms in on Billy’s expression

as he notices what’s coming out

of the guy’s zipper. ]

Billy looks away fast. ]

BILLY: I don’t know. 

CAMERAGUY: I’ll give you all

of this.

[ Billy sees the stack of cash

that is more than he can count.

Slowly, he gets down on his knees

& starts looking around. ]

BILLY: Alright.  I’m in.
