Great Pretender: Part 1

Four  Months  Later

Scene One: TACare

[ Jenni walks through

the open door of her

shared office, joining

Jai inside. ]

JAI: Do you think I look

like a professional in

this scene?

[ He unpauses the screen &

Jai is shown sitting in

a chair at TASalon.

 The camera points up to

Lorenzo as he removes Jai's

cover up & he stands. ]

"Thanks Renzo. This style

is sleek."

[ Jenni starts to smile. ]

JENNI: You look fine.  It's a

journey around TA in under a

minute.  Seems to me to be

exactly what they asked for.

JAI: Yeah but I'm no actor.

JENNI: Still can't believe

Landyn got sick at the last

minute but you did.

Alright.  

[ She teases, walking toward

the door. ]

JAI: I'll find out tomorrow.

JENNI: Right so relax. I'm

gonna go do room checks and

see if the girls need any-

thing.

[ Jai gets up & starts packing

his bag. ]

"Okay.  See ya when I get back

from class."

[ Picking up his phone from the

desk, he sends a text to an

unsaved number. ]

"I have dinner with the fam at

six. I'll be a couple hours 

late."

[ Jai waits for a response &

gets one immediately. ]

"Bet. You know where to 

find me."

Scene Two: 

[ Inside the activities

room, sitters are busy

overseeing the kids.

Tonya approaches Jenni. ]

"How are things going?"

[ Tonya looks in the

direction of a co-worker

who is leading a game

on the floor. ]

TONYA: Everyone's fine.

No freak outs so far.

JENNI: That's a relief.

TONYA: I'll go start

on some snacks.

[ She walks off & Jenni

goes to find her boss

Sunshine.

Up front, TACare. ]

SUNSHINE: Hey. Jai just

left for school.

JENNI: Okay. I got the email

list of things you want

us to focus on for corp-

orate tomorrow.

SUNSHINE: Thanks. Pass it on

to Jai too.  We all know he

forgets to check.

[ Just as Sunshine is about

to return to her office

a stranger's harsh tone

in the entrance catches 

her off guard. ]

"Where the hell is a

manager?"

Scene Three: MSPrep Hall.

[ Jai arrives. Walking towards

his class he catches up with

Kiilyn. ]

JAI: See told ya I'd make 

it.  And with five minutes 

to spare.

KIILYN: Well bravo.  Your

attendance last year almost

got you kicked out.

JAI: Thankfully you're the

only other person who knows

that still.

I have two weeks to improve

or I lose my half days too.

KIILYN: Damn.  Didn't even

know they could do that.

JAI: Yeah. I'll have to pick

up other classes and no more

work.

As far as my Dad's know I'm

doing great with the balance

and I plan on keeping it that

way.  

KIILYN: Good thing it's Friday

then.  You look like you need

to crash.

[ They stop outside the room. ]

JAI: I'll be there in a second.

Hello?  Yeah.  That's perfect.



Scene Four: Back At TACare.

"Now I understand why you went
for the blackout entrance."

[ Sunshine walks toward the desk
while Mark follows behind
laughing at her expression. ]

MARK: I know it's your first
time so I just wanted to make
sure you were clear on the
schedule for tomorrow.

SUNSHINE: Let me guess. They
want to start here.
MARK: Yup.  Around 9.
It should take about an hour
for you to walk them through
everything they'll want to
see.

[ Sunshine looks surprised. ]

MARK: They are very particular
just warning you.  But if every-
thing goes according to plan.
They'll just walk through, say a
few things, smile and bounce.

SUNSHINE: Hopefully. 
MARK: Don't worry about it. I
am disappointed that you and
Jeszyca won't be joining us
for dinner tonight.

[ She looks away. ]

MARK: Is something wrong?

[ Sunshine turns around as
the tears start to trail 
down her face. ]

MARK: Sorry.  I wasn't trying
to bring up anything.
SUNSHINE: It's fine. I mean,
well it's not.

[ She wipes her eyes with
a tissue. ]


I might need to move out.

Scene Five: Audi's Bar/Grill

[ Jai, Trailyn, Ski, Mark, Chais
& Jenni are sitting around the
table. ]

JAI: Whoever is playing footsies
with me, it doesn't feel nice.

[ He looks around the table &
everyone is staring at him
except Mark. ]

JAI: Dad!

SKI: I hope you don't have
your shoes off.

[ Mark looks guilty as he bends
down a little.

Later after ordering, Jai &
Trailyn excuse themselves to
the front lobby area. ]

"What's up?"

JAI: I'm going to hang with
my friend after dinner.

Is it cool if Ski gives
you a ride home?

TRAILYN: I mean. I guess.
What friend?
JAI: You don't know him.
He studies Japanese with
me and he's not getting
the homework.  
TRAILYN: What's his name?
JAI: A'myan. We better
get back to the table.

[ He takes her hand, kisses
her on the lips & they
start to walk back. ]


Scene Six: 

[ While they were gone. ]

"Oh no."

CHAIS: What, did you break
a nail?

JENNI: No.  Care got a bad
review online.
MARK: Really, what does it
say?

JENNI: It's a parent com-
plaining about the snacks
we give.
MARK: Oh that's it.

[ He shakes his head. ]

SKI: Yeah I wouldn't worry
about it. Everyone is well
aware of the food before
they bring the kids in.
CHAIS: No one's gonna care
babe.

JENNI: It still doesn't look
good.  
MARK: I'll find out about some
alternatives then but everything
has to be approved.

Plus the kids have to want to
eat it.  
JENNI: That's the real problem.

[ Jai & Trailyn return as the
table gets silent. ]


Scene Seven:

[ Jai parks in his friend's
back lot.  Gets out & walks
up to the door.

Knocking a little, he notices
it's open. ]

"Bro! Come on down."

A'MYAN: Sit. I know you've
been waiting on this all 
day.

[ He hands Jai a glass pipe
as he removes a torch lighter
from his pocket. ]

JAI: This is from the same
place right.
A'MYAN: Yup.  This is Tori
and Kayla.

JAI: Hey. How's it going?

[ He quickly smiles but his
focus stays on the piece that
is now tightly in his grasp.

Holding the light underneath,
he waits for the heat to work
its magic.  Soon he is laid back
 inhaling the thick white smoke. ]

Fallen Rise: Part 3 (A Tetralogy)

SCENE ONE :

Downtown, The Texi Mex.

[ Ski, his best man Hithe, &

groomsmen Larrie, Weis, &

Mark's brother Josh are 

eyeing over their menus. ]

"I think you picked the worst

place to eat before going 

out all night drinking."

[ Everyone looks up at Weis. ]

SKI: That's why we left a day

in between the wedding.

LARRIE: Good idea.  Gives

you some time to recover.

JOSH: I'm guessing that came

straight out of Mark's mouth.

[ Ski smiles, not seeing the 

stares that are coming at him

from across the table. ]

SKI: I'm ready when you are.

[ He puts down his menu. A few 

minutes later, a blonde wait-

ress in loud shoes saunters up

to the table. ]

JOSH: Can we get some beers

all around to start with?

[ He nods at the girl, pressing

out his lips while the guys

watch. ]

JOSH: Whatever you suggest

will be fine.  Thanks gorgeous.

[ She walks away. ]

JOSH: I'll have her number by

the end of the meal, just wait.

HITHE: Spoken like a true Simon.

SCENE TWO :

Magic Springs Prep School.

[ Trailyn, Jai, Kiilyn, Mairya,

Billy, Chais, & Little H arrive at 

the school.  After Chais parks,

they start walking toward

the back door. ]

"It's suppose to be open."

[ Everyone follows Jai & Trailyn,

walking slowly down the hall. ]

TRAILYN: I don't hear any music

and no ones here.

JAI: I know it's weird.  There

was all these responses online.

CHAIS: Well I at least want to

know who wasted our fucking

time.  

[ He picks up his speed toward

the Science classroom.  

They all enter into a barely lit

area as the door unknowlingly

locks behind them. ]

MAIRYA: Guys. Someone's there.

[ She points to a masked man

who is sitting down in front of

the room.  He immediately starts

to yell. ]

"Face the wall.  Hands in the air."

[ They all obey while Little H turns

around a little trying to get a peak

at the stranger. ]

"No one talk.  Just listen."

[ He walks down the line, making

sure everyone is looking in the

opposite direction. ]

"Just so you know I'm serious."

[ Shaking, he brings his hand up

up & points the gun at a statue.

They are stunned as it shatters

into pieces all around them. ]

SCENE THREE :

Later, at their 1st bar.

[ Hithe, Weis, & Larrie are all

out on the dance floor while

Ski is taking a break, leaning

up against the wall.

Josh comes over to him. ]

"Why are you so quiet?"

SKI: Just thinking.  With all

this planning and stuff.  This

is the first time I've had a 

moment to myself.

JOSH: I understand.  And

Mark isn't the easy person

to get along with.

[ Ski looks up at Josh. ]

SKI: What do you mean?

JOSH: Well you know, he

has some annoying habits.

And he always wants to

be right.  Anyway.

[ He hands Ski a shot off

the table next to him. ]

"After you."

[ After inhaling the liquor, Josh

leads Ski out on the dance 

floor.  The guys look on as he

starts to get a little too close. ]

SCENE FOUR :

Back in the classroom.

"It's Caleb"

[ Little H whispers over to

Chais who face is swept with

anger. ]

CHAIS: We know who is doing

this.  We're not dumb and 

when people find out.  You

will be screwed.

"I said. No talking.  All I am

is this huge problem to you.

My parents don't even know

I exist anymore.

Well if I'm no longer around.

Guess what?  Problem solved."

[ Little H hits the wall while

Mairya starts to cry.  Trailyn

speaks up.  ]

TRAILYN: Please don't do this.

KIILYN: Yeah man, it's not the

right way.

[ Jai stands there, shaken. ]

"I've made up my mind already."

[ In that moment, complete silence

is challenged by the sound of the

gun going off.  Everyone stands

there, too panicked to move. ]

SCENE FIVE :

[ Weis, Hithe, & Larrie are watch-

ing as Josh drunkingly moves

about over the dance floor. 

Ski is trailing behind him, trying

to avoid attention. ]

"Dude chill out."

JOSH: Sorry man. 

[ He stops dancing & faces Ski. ]

SKI: It's cool, I just don't want

to be kicked out of here.  

JOSH: You know I've never really

had a girlfriend.

SKI: You're joking.  As much as

you talk about woman.

JOSH: I'm serious.  Not one.  I

just sat back while my older

brothers got all the dates.

SKI: That really sucks. I'm

sorry.

[ He looks away but Josh hasn't

taken his glance off him. ]

"Let's go sit down."

[ Ski & Josh retreat to a back

bench by the bathroom.  Before

Ski can say anything, Josh is

leaning over him, eyes glazed.

He closes his eyes and starts

to move toward Ski. ]

SCENE SIX :

[ Scared, no one wants to turn

around until Little H finally gains

the courage.

He sees Caleb sitting on the

ground with the gun off to

the side.  H sits next to him

& he starts to cry.  One by

one everyone turns around. ]

LITTLE H: It's okay.  It's okay.

CHAIS: Where did you get a

gun from?

[ He comes over & the rest

stay back. ]

CALEB: I just found it, I swear.

I wasn't going to hurt any

of you.

[ He states, barely choking out

the words.]

TRAILYN: I believe him.

[ Trailyn & Mairya come over. ]

JAI: This is a little messed up

guys I'm sorry.  We're just going

to let it go.

[ He looks over at everyone

& the expression on Caleb's

face. ]

CHAIS: We need to agree.  Just

put the gun back wherever you

found it and we'll keep our mouths

shut. Okay?

[ Everyone agrees.  Caleb unlocks

the door & they leave. ]

4 Letter Score

SCENE ONE :

Afternoon, Magic Springs 

Prepatory school.

[ Between classes, Caleb finds Little

H in the crowded halls. ]

"What are you wearing?"

CALEB: It's a game day.  Coach 

made us dress like this.

[ He moves a little closer to

H, hushing his voice a bit. ]

CALEB: Why is it making you

feel some sort of way?  We

still have 3 minutes before

the bell.

[ He looks around, then puckers

up his lips. ]

LITTLE H: Tempting as that is.

Not here.

CALEB: As you wish.  I'll see you

at lunch then.

[ H moves in to hug onto him,

but Caleb just smiles & backs

away.

Jai & Trailyn are seen walking &

stop when they see H alone. ]

TRAILYN: What was that about?

JAI: Yeah, normally he's the one

all over you.  Are you fighting

already?

LITTLE H: No.  It's just his nerves.

He keeps going on about how

he's the smallest person on the 

team.  It's ruining his concen-

tration.

JAI: Got ya.  Well hope he gets

over it by tonight's game.

SCENE TWO : 

At Jeszyca & Larrie's.

[ Sunshine is in the living room talk

-ing to her best friend on the 

phone. ]

"It was a mess."

SUNSHINE: You have to admit, it's

pretty easy to get on your

brother's bad side.  

MADELINE: Yes but it has gotten

worse.  Anyway, how are you

and Jeszyca getting on?

[ Sunshine doesn't speak for awhile. ]

SUNSHINE: I'm not so sure.  You see

the other day I may have let some-

thing slip out I shouldn't have.

MADELINE: What?  Was it a bad thing?

SUNSHINE: I wouldn't call it that

maybe premature.  I mean, I moved

in here as a friend.

MADELINE: Girl, things are a little

different now.  As long as you're

being honest, I think she will

appreciate it.

SUNSHINE: That's what I thought.

After I told Jesz I loved her &

she said it back, I got to thinking.

I've never been in love but she

has with a few people & failed

relationships.  How are we any

different? 

SCENE THREE :

Back at school, later that night.

   [ Caleb's team is down by two with

a couple of high scorers seated, the

pressure is being placed on him.

He grabs the ball & starts toward

the basket, with seconds counting

down Caleb goes for the final

shot. ]

[ The crowd & team watch as the

ball hits the rim, bouncing off.

Afterwards, in the locker room.

Caleb comes over trying to make

amends with a 'Good Game' hug. ]

"Get away from me homo."

[ The other players start to laugh. ]

CALEB: What did you say?

PLAYER2: You heard me.  We all saw

you looking at Little H from the

sidelines.  

CALEB: So?  He's a friend.  That's it.

  My only one because my team-

mates are clearly assholes.

[ He backs away, grabs his bag &

exits the locker room. ]

"I was joking, man. Chill out!"

SCENE FOUR :

Meanwhile, on Castle Watch.

[ Zain & Jazpur are discussing the

night's upcoming 1st banishment. ]

"Did anyone see us come in here?"

ZAIN: No, I don't think so.  Why?

JAZPUR: Remember the first night

we were here?  I just think it's a

little weird Mari was all flirty and

coming onto me, now I'm in this

situation.

[ Zain is careful with his choice of

words. ]

ZAIN: People will see that and 

maybe give you the benefit of

the doubt.  You're a good player.

JAZPUR: I know.  I think I've

done a lot here.  You just 

never know.

[ A few minutes later all ten contest-

ants are sitting in the living room

watching the presenter from a 

screen. ]

"I now can annouce the person

who viewers have banished

from the castle . . . . . .

Melanie.  We will be talking

to her shortly. ]

[ After Melanie leaves, Zain is

congratulating Jazpur.  He walks

over to Mari, smirking at her. ]

JAZPUR: Nice try.

SCENE FIVE :

Still at Jeszyca & Larrie's.

[ Sunshine & Jeszyca are lying on

the couch together, deep in con-

versation. ]

"You can ask me anything."

SUNSHINE: I know.  It's just a little

weird for me.  Especially since

you and Amber are still friends.

JESZYCA: I understand.  That

was years ago and she's been

dating men ever since.  It's like

we don't even think about.

SUNSHINE: I couldn't be friends

with any of my exes.  Thankfully

they are far, far away.

[ She smiles, sitting up to take

a drink from her wine glass. 

Leaning over, Sunshine kisses

Jeszyca as she lies back. ]

"This is nice."

SUNSHINE: Is Larrie coming back?

JESZYCA: Nope.  He'll be at

work.  All night long.

SUNSHINE: Well in that case.

[ She pulls up her shirt, giving

the signal to Jeszyca who waste

no time helping her undress. ]

SCENE SIX :

[ Caleb approaches Little H,

sitting outside on a bench. ]

"Have you been crying?"

CALEB: No I'm fine.

[ He looks away with obvious

anger inside. ]

LITTLE H: Dad is on his way

from Ski's.  He said you could

stay the night.

CALEB: Thanks.  That's cool.

LITTLE H: Listen, I know you

didn't win but I could see you

we're doing your best.  Don't

let anyone get on you about

it.

CALEB: You're right.  I'm not

going to.  Enough about the

team though.  I've been

waiting all day for this.

[ He takes H's hand, leading

him over to a wooded area

behind a tree.

Caleb forcefully starts to make

out with him until they are

stopped by Hithe's honking

horn. ]
