Change To Bare Part 1

SCENE 1:

In between TA & The Salon.

[ Acer joins Mark inside his

truck & they take off. ]

MARK: Hey, it's been awhile.

ACE: I know man, I'm sorry.

Karie has been saying we

don't spend enough quality

time together.  So we've

been going out more.

How is little Jai?

MARK: He's doing better.  Should

have the cast off by next week

Ski was a wreck though.

ACE: Yeah I get it.  Bet he's

 having a hard time taking it 

easy.

MARK: You're telling me.  Jai

insisted on starting this week

too.  My one armed cashier.

ACE: I see.  He has a hard head

just like his father.

[ They both laugh. About half-an

hour later, they pull into the new

Mirror TA.

Getting out, they walk up to the

front & stand near the female

manager. ]

MANAGER: Thank you for coming.

Doors should be opening in five

minutes.

ACE: Before Jim gets here for the

meeting, let's go look around.

I heard they have everything

here.

MARK: Okay but give me about

ten.

[ He walks off disapearing into

the crowd. ]

SCENE 2:

On a highway nearby.

[ Dyminic & Amber are headed

toward Maison City. ]

AMBER: So we're going to the

town we met in but not to the

hotel.  Is that all your going

to give me?

DYMINIC: Yes.  Can't you just

relax a little and take the

surprise?

AMBER: I don't know.

[ She looks at Dyminic & he smiles

keeping his eyes focused ahead

of them. ]

DYMINIC: This is something I want-

ed to do for awhile now.

AMBER: Oh yeah?  You never took

Syria out here.

DYMINIC: Oh no.  She wouldn't dare.

AMBER: Well I'm pretty open, I think.

At least I try to be.

DYMINIC: I think so.  That's one

of the many things I adore about

you.

[ Amber leans over, touching Dyminic's

arm that is lying on the center consel. ]

DYMINIC: Only a little while longer

I think.

AMBER: Wait, I see water.  We must

be going to the beach.

DYMINIC: Damn, I knew I should have

blind folded you.

AMBER: Funny.  So what's so scary

about sand and water? She not

know how to swim.

[ Suddenly her question is answered

when Dyminic pulls into the parking

lot.  Looking out into the beach, Amber

sees loads of people.  Sitting, standing,

or playing all with no clothing. ]

AMBER: Ohhhh.   

SCENE 3:

Back at The Aisles.

[ Hahn & Jai are walking

around the store. ]

HAHN: You been here plenty

of times.  I'm sure you got

the layout down.

JAI: Yeah.  So when can I

start?

[ Hahn looks down at his

schedule. ]

HAHN: Next Monday at 5.

JAI: Cool thanks.

HAHN: Yup.  Now how about

I show you something not

on the tour?

[ A little later they enter Mark's

office.  Jai goes to sit in the

chair but Hahn motions for

him to stand by him at the desk. ]

JAI: What is it?

[ The screen comes on & Jai

sees multiple areas of the

store. ]

HAHN: Sometimes I come up here

and just look around.

JAI: Or spy on your girlfriend?

[ Jai starts to laugh, not noticing

his nervous expression.

Looking right at Jai, Hahn 

quickly shuts off the screen. ]

SCENE 4:

Back inside Mirror TA.

[ Mark is walking around trying

to find his boss Jim when he 

hears him talking with the

female manager. ]

MANAGER: I appreciate you

approving the higher start pay,

I know it wasn't easy getting

that across the boards.  

[ Mark leans on the door, listening. ]

JIM: You're welcome.  

MANAGER: I know I don't have

nearly as much experience as

you tend to hire.

JIM: Don't worry about it.  I've seen

you in action for some time now.

If I didn't trust you, we wouldn't

be doing this.

[ He gives her a sneaky look. ]

JIM: I've got a meeting though.

Talk later.

[ He kisses the manager on her

way out the door. 

Waiting for her to leave, Mark

enters the room. ]

MARK: Sorry I was late.  Got

lost looking around.  This

store is amazing, right?

[ He fakes normality to an

unsuspected Jim. ]

SCENE 5:

At MCity Beach.

[ Dyminic is walking free with

Amber right beside him.

Silent, he looks over at her. ]

DYMINIC: You look cute in your

top and wrap up for the bottom.

AMBER: Yeah.  I didn't figure

the whole show was necesary.

But look at you.

[ They stop & Dyminic stands

in front of her, every part of 

his body in view. ]

AMBER: How do you feel?

DYMINIC: Quite comfortable.

AMBER: Well's that all that 

matters then.

[ She takes his hand & they

continue walking.

A young girl around Amber's

age passes by, getting Dyminic's

attention. ]

DYMINIC: Why did you drop my

hand?

AMBER: I don't know if I like this

anymore.

DYMINIC: I didn't mean to look.

Just not use to this place.

AMBER: Alright. Well I'm hungry.

Can we go?

[ She walks off toward the parking

area, leaving Dyminic standing

on the sand. ]

SCENE 6:

In Mark's car.

[ Ace & him are talking. ]

"Dude look at all this free

stuff I got and coupons."

[ Mark gives him a harsh

look. ]

ACE: What? I got you a bag

too.

MARK: I bet this whole thing

was funded by our boss.

ACE: I thought that was the

manager's responsibilty.

MARK: Apparently not if he's

screwing them.  

ACE: How do you know?

MARK: I heard Jim flirting with

her and then they kissed.

ACE: Oh.  If I we're you, I'd

stay out of it. 

MARK: I could.  Or there's a

TA executive meeting soon.

Maybe I'll decide to share

the news.  

Different Shade

SCENE 1:

Late Afternoon, The Aisles.

[ Towards the end of his double

shift, Joh sneaks outside to

the employee parking lot.

Leaning up against the wall, he

shuffles in his coat pocket for

a small bottle.  Sighing he takes

a few, long & generous swigs. ]

[ Minutes later, he's settled in

a daze when a co-worker spots

him. ]

"Are you alright?"

[ Joh steadies himself before

starting to walk off. ]

JOH: I'm good.  I was just.

Leaving.

JENNI: Okay then.  See ya.

[ She meets Joh's glance as the bottle

falls out of his pocket, shattering

on the ground. ]

JOH: Can you do me a favor?

I already clocked out.

JENNI: Yeah, it's cool.  I got it.

JOH: Thanks.

[ Joh walks off slowly.  Climbing

inside his truck, he lays down

across the seat. ]

SCENE 2:

At Mark & Ski's house.

[ Ski, Jai, Chais, & Kiilyn are

lounging in the living room. ]

SKI: Did your Dad set up that

interview?

JAI: Yeah. It's next week 

with Hahn.

[ Jai gets silent. ]

SKI: He's a good guy.  You

should have no problem.

A little weird, but cool.

[ Chais starts to laugh. ]

CHAIS: I don't know why

you're so excited about

interviewing at TA.

JAI: To make my own money.

CHAIS: There's other jobs.

I wouldn't be caught dead

working for Mark.

SKI: Nice asshole.

CHAIS: I'm serious.

SKI: Anyway, you know what

tomorrow is?

[ He looks over at Jai.  Getting

his attention Ski starts to

jingles keys in the air. ]

KIILYN: What are those?

JAI: You got my bike?

SKI: It wasn't easy convincing

your Dad, but yeah it's in

the garage.

[ Before he can finish, Jai

& Kiilyn are gone. ]

SCENE 3:

Back inside Joh's truck.

[ He's talking to Stuu over

the phone. ]

JOH: Dude, I need you to

come pick me up.

STUU: Didn't you drive last

night?

JOH: Yeah but I'm not feeling

well.  Please.

STUU: Okay okay.  You don't

have to get on your knees.

[ His laughter causes Joh to

crack a smile. ]

STUU: I'll be there in 20.

[ Later, Stuu pulls up.  Seeing

Joh's state, he gets out & helps

him get inside. ]

STUU: Good thing you called me

considering you're wasted.  

JOH: It was a small bottle and

I don't need the lecture.  Just

the ride thanks.

I just got out of a double from

hell.  

STUU: You drink like this a lot

though.  Just saying, man.

Is something up?  I mean,

besides the usual registry

headache.

[ He looks down & Joh is

passed out, laying on the

middle seat. 

Stuu sits back, turning up

the radio. ]

SCENE 4:

Inside the garage.

SKI: I'll take you to get the

license when I get home

from work tomorrow.

Alright?

JAI: Yeah.  Thanks Dad.

[ Ski goes back inside. ]

KIILYN: I know it's sweet

but I think you've stared at

it long enough.  Let's go

watch movies.

JAI: I won't be staring at

it for long.

KIILYN: And what's that

suppose to mean?

JAI: It means that when

Ski goes to sleep we're

taking this baby out on

a little drive.

KIILYN: Are you deaf?  That's

exactly what Ski said not

to do.

JAI: Come on. just around

the block.  I'll let you sit

bitch unless you're scared.

KIILYN: Fine whatever.

SCENE 5:

In Joh's basement.

STUU: You sure you don't

want help up to your room?

JOH: No.  I crash down here

all the time.  You staying?

STUU: Why not.

[ Stuu sits down with his feet

on the table while Joh lays

near him under a blanket. ]

JOH: Thanks for getting me

home.

STUU: No problem but I'm

starting to get worried about

you. Weis may be your best

friend but you are mine and

I can't afford anything to

happen to your stupid butt.

[ Joh laughs. ]

JOH: I am pretty dumb.

STUU: Hey.  You know that's

not what I meant.

JOH: I got dumped by my religion

and by my only girlfriend.

STUU: Those things weren't meant

to be but you'll find something

or someone else to feel passionate

about soon enough.  I know it.

[ Joh sits up hugging onto Stuu.

Surprised Stuu sits back a little

but before he can move he's

shocked again by the presence

of Joh's lips on his own. ]

SCENE 6:

Outside of Mark & Ski's.

JAI: I told you we'd get it out.

Here, take the other helmet.

[ Kiilyn backs up. ]

KIILYN: No.  I changed my mind.

JAI: Chicken, I'm going.

[ Jai puts his helmet down, starting

up the motorbike.  Looking back he

signals his friend before pulling

off into the night. 

Five minutes later, Kiilyn is standing

in the road waiting for Jai to appear. ]

KIILYN: Hey, where did you go?

[ Kiilyn starts to yell his name as he

walks around the block.  Turning

the corner, he sees the bike laying

on his side with Jai no where in

sight. 

He takes off running now & can

see his friend laying a little ways

off on the ground. ]

KIILYN: Jai!

[ He doesn't respond. ]

Face The Times

Midday at The Aisles.

[ Monica is ending her store

walk and stops by Jenni's

open lane. ]

MONICA: So you drag your boo

to the movie last weekend?

JENNI: Yeah, we saw it.

MONICA: Should I risk asking

Kyle, or was the book way

better?

JENNI: The movie is worth it.

[ Syria butts in from behind

them. ]

SYRIA: Aren't you a little young

to be watching 40 Distractions?

[ Monica & Jenni turn around. ]

MONICA: Please.  She's practically

an adult.

SYRIA: Some of those scenes with

the lead actor.

[ Syria starts to help a customer

& they turn back around. ]

JENNI: Do you know that lady down

by the door?  It's seems like she's

staring at you.

MONICA: Doubt it.  There's a

lot of crazies that come in here.

Probably a Landyn fan.

[ Monica brushes it off, walking

in the opposite direction. ]

At Kristyn's house.

[ Kristyn is in the kitchen 

looking over the mail

when her daughter

comes inside. ]

KRISTYN: How was school

today? 

MAIRYA: Fine, I guess.  You

never ask me that.

  

What did you hear?

[ She questions her mom while

a bizarre expression strains

her face. ]

KRISTYN: Your teacher called.

He said two boys we're fighting

in school and he's pretty sure

you were at the center of it.

MAIRYA: So, I can't help it if

all the guys like me.  What

am I supposed to do, change?

KRISTYN: All I'm saying is

you should be more careful

about your reputation.  Once

it's ruined.

MAIRYA: No offense but you

had a baby with Hithe when

you were still with Dad.

KRISTYN: That's true and I never

said I was proud of it.  Although I

would give anything to have our

son back, we should have waited

to the divorce was final.

[ Kristyn stands up from the table,

not noticing Little H enter behind

her. ]

KRISTYN: I'm just trying to save

you from a similar situation.

[ In view now, Little H interupts. ]

LITTLE H: I should probably leave. 

[ Before anyone can say anything,

he's gone.  Slamming the door

behind him. ]

 Back inside TA.

[ Monica is talking to Landyn

at the self-checkout stand. ]

MONICA: I think you have a

fan down by the door.  One

of those stalkerish types.

LANDYN: Oh goody.  If I have

to tell another middle-aged

woman I'm not available.

Yeah right, I love it.

MONICA: Want me to call

her over?

[ Before she can answer

someone approaches the

stand. ]

"I know it's been awhile

but we should talk."

[ Later on, outside. ]

MONICA: If you wanted to

see the kids.  You could have

called.  We've always gotten

along.

GRANDMA: I know but after my

son caused all those problems

here a few years ago.  I just wasn't 

sure how you would react.

MONICA: It's alright, really.

GRANDMA: Good.  That's not the

only reason why I came here

though.  This is a little hard

to say.

MONICA: Why, what is it?

GRANDMA: I just found out that

Jarone had other kids.

 Meanwhile at Kristyn's.

KRISTYN: Don't give me that look.

How was I suppose to know

Hithe never told him?  I 

wonder myself why not.

MAIRYA: I should go find him.

KRISTYN: Stay here.  They need to

talk this out without interference.

I know you care about H. 

[ Kristyn sits closer to Mairya. ]

KRISTYN: Is that the reason why

you're doing this?  Acting out.

MAIRYA: No.  It's just like I told

you.  Anyway, I'm going to my 

room.

KRISTYN: Okay.  I'll be starting

dinner soon.  

[ Mairya hastily leaves, not

commenting. ]

[ Kristyn gets up & walks over to

her china cabinet.  Opening a shelf

she takes out an old album.

She finds a picture of Hithe sitting

on a chair, holding their baby. ]

 Later on the night.

[ Monica walks into her kitchen

& sees her son sitting at the

table. ]

KIILYN: What's up Mom?  You

look like you've seen a ghost.

MONICA: Just your Dad's mother.

She showed up at TA today.

KIILYN: For what?

MONICA: To see you and your

sister.

KIILYN: She could have called

you for that.

MONICA: That's what I said.

[ She lets Kiilyn leave without

saying anything more.

Getting out pots and ingredients,

she instead starts to prepare

her meal when Trailyn comes

home. ]

MONICA: Hey.  You're just in

time to help me cook.  

[ Kristyn is talking to Hithe

on the phone. ]

KRISTYN: I'm guessing you

had a talk.  I'm sorry Hithe,

I wasn't even aware he was

here.   

HITHE: Don't apologize.  I should

have told him from the beginning.

I just didn't want him to feel like

he was a replacement.

KRISTYN: I understand.  How is H?

HITHE: He was mad at first but

I explained things to him.  I'm

pretty sure he got it.

KRISTYN: That great then.

HITHE: Yeah. So how was your 

day?

KRISTYN: You mean, besides the

argument with Mairya that started

this whole thing?

[ Hithe smiles. ]

KRISTYN: As good as a day off gets.

HITHE: Want me to come over?  I'll

sneak in through your window.

KRISTYN: I'll see you in the morning

silly.

[ She hangs up on him. ]
