Stumble On

SCENE 1:

[ Kyle arrives at Marty’s.
Seeing his friend sprawled
out on the couch he takes
a seat across. ]

KYLE: Sorry about the fall.
How long are you out
for?
MARTY: At least another week.
KYLE: Oh, that’s not too
bad.

[ Marty attempts to sit up
but pain in his leg holds
him back. ]

MARTY: Not too bad?  They’re
probably looking for my
replacement as we speak.
KYLE: Come on.  Think of it
as a break.  A much needed
one if you ask me.

Anyway, you should be
healed just in time for
the wedding rehearsal.

[ Kyle notices Marty’s
expression. ]

KYLE: I know you don’t
think we’re ready but
 I’m glad you put that
aside to be my best man
MARTY:  Yeah, I’ll be there.
I’m just concerned.

Without my career, who
am I?

SCENE 2:

[ Holding a bag, Tiesun gets
into a parked truck. ]

STUU: Hey Tie.  Please tell
me your months of hard
work finally paid off.

[ He gives her a big smile. ]

TIESUN: Not quite.  I didn’t
get in.

[ Stuu looks surprised. ]

Let’s go.  We should crash
before work tonight.

STUU: Sure thing.  And look,
I’m not trying to be funny
or anything.  But I noticed
a theme to the girls who
were leaving the dance
hall.

All of the ones who looked
happy we’re white.
TIESUN: Maybe but I’m the
last person to try and use
the race card.

I’m just going to accept
that it’s over.  There will
be other chances.

SCENE 3:

[ Marty & Kyle are still
talking. ]

KYLE: Well amigo.  I should
head out.  Text me.

I know you want to get
through your injury without
the pain medicine.  Just leave
those bad friends from our
past alone.  Okay?

See ya.

[ Kyle exits.  As soon as
Marty hears him walking
out, he lets out a loud
yell.

He quickly bites down on
the pillow in his hand to
stop the sound. ]

MARTY: I just need some
thing.

[ Anxious, he leans backs.
Turning on the TV, he tries
to get comfortable with
this new distraction. ]

SCENE 4:
Before night shift at TA.

[ Airynn, Larrie, Joh, Stuu
& Tiesun are listening to
Ski’s meeting. ]

SKI: I just wanted to remind
everyone to keep offering
the TA credit to customers.

The stats right now are 120
days,  90 nights, and 40 salon.
Let’s put in a little more
effort this week so we
can pass up Mark.  Okay?

[ Everyone is heading to
start but Tiesun & Stuu
stay behind.

Stuu starts to play a song
on his phone. ]

TIESUN: Turn it down before
Ski comes back.
STUU: I’m trying to tell you
something.
It’s the song we danced
to in the fake frat video.
TIESUN: Yeah, and?

STUU: Well, they’re holding
another day of auditions
tomorrow, right?
TIESUN: Yes.
STUU: I have an idea.
That’s gonna prove my
point.

Wait until break.

SCENE 5:

[ Marty is sitting in the dark
reading an article online on
his laptop. ]

‘The effects can be amazing
and at the same time quite
aggravating.”

[ Suddenly Marty is startled
by a phone call.

Seeing that it is Kyle, he
continues to read on. ]

[ As he finishes the article,
he reaches for his crutches
so he can prepare to hop
towards the bathroom.

Leaning now, he feels a
weight shift and forces
through to take his first
step. ]

[ Marty sighs. ]

MARTY: There has to
be an easier way.

SCENE 6:
The next morning.

[ Stuu is leading Tiesun
inside a building.  She is in full
costume with a decorated scarf
over her face & long gloves.

After waiting in a room for
a couple hours, they are
called into the performance
area. ]

[ Without a word, Tiesun leads
Stuu in a dance they had only
performed once before in an
online video.

Surprising himself. Stuu did all
the moves serving as her
background. ]

[ Waiting for the decision, Tiesun
can’t look but Stuu stays staring
at the judges. ]

“We decided.  Your through!”

[ The judges start to applaud.

  Tiesun removes the face
covering as they stop
clapping one by one. ]

Final Hour

SCENE 1
Outside the Telazon’s.

[ Airynn & his younger brother
are sitting on the porch when
Markis drives into the driveway. ]

MARKIS: I knew you’d be home.
Hey Billy, what’s good?

BILLY: Nothing if I’m hanging
with him.

[ He points to Airynn while
getting up & walking inside. ]

AIRYNN: Anyway, are we still
hitting up that strip club
tonight?
MARKIS: Right, about that.
I can’t go, man.  Something
came up.

[ He stops talking & looks away. ]

MARKIS: But we can chill now.

So, what’s going on at TA?
Everyone cool?
AIRYNN: Not hardly.  Jeszyca
was fired for getting violent
with a customer.
Joh’s no longer a Witness and
he decided to take the rebellious
route.  That’s just the start.

MARKIS: Wow.  So much drama.
Just like that crazy place too.
AIRYNN:  I know.  Remember what
happened on your first shift?

SCENE 2:
Meanwhile, at the Hospital.

[ Larrie is exiting his cousin’s
room when Mark arrives. ]

“Hey, how’s Ace?”

LARRIE: He’s knocked out
right now.  They have him
on some medicine for the
pain.
MARK: Alright, that’s good.
I’m gonna sit with him in
the room until he wakes
up, if that’s cool.
LARRIE: Sure.  Then I can go
get some real food.
If they say anything, just
act like you’re his brother.

[ Larrie leaves & Mark goes
inside.  He moves a chair next
to the bed and sits quietly.

A few minutes later. ]

“Mark, you came.”

MARK: Of course.  How is
your arm doing?
ACE: Better, I guess.  The
meds are working somewhat
but they put me to sleep.
MARK: Damn, that too bad
but at least you know what
the next step is.  I mean,
at least there is one.

ACE:  Yeah.  Not for me.

SCENE 3:
After Airynn’s question. . .

[ From Episode 209 ‘Love Me Dead’ ]

[ Inside TA. . .Airynn, Markis, Joh, Weis
& Larrie are all waiting for their shift to start ]
. . . . .
AIRYNN: So Joh, how was knocking on those
doors last Saturday?

Get any slammed in your face?
MARKIS: Wait, what?
AIRYNN: Yeah, I caught him trying to preach
to my girl…He’s one of those witness people
MARKIS: Damn, for real?
They’re fucking annoying!
. . . . .
[ breaks the silence ] WEIS: Anyways, Airynn…
Why do you give a shit?
AIRYNN: Oh, so your his spokesperson
now?
[ stands up ] JOH: No actually, I don’t need
anyone to speak for me. . . [ gets in his face ]

How are you gonna go behind my back
when you know I liked Marisa?
[ backs up ] AIRYNN: What does it matter?
It’s not like you could’ve dated her
anyway
JOH: That’s not the point, Airynn!
You are supposed to be my friend
. . . . .
JOH: Just forget it dude!
I’m going to start. . . [ walks away ]
MARKIS: Man, if this is how it’s gonna
be. . .
I’m glad I started working here

SCENE 4:
Back at the Hospital.

“What do you mean by
that?  I hope you’re joking.”

ACE: I mean.  What’s the point?
I’ll probably be dealing with
this illness for the rest of my
life anyway.

Why put myself through more
bull just for the same result?

[ Ace gets up & walks toward
the window. ]

MARK: You don’t know that
man.  Any chance is better
than no chance at all.
I know you’ve been going
through this for awhile
but now is not the time
to give up.
ACE: You’re right.  I’ve dealt
with so much this year.  Barely
working.  Having to ask Karie
for help with things I could
more than afford before.

Drives me crazy inside.
MARK: Yeah, I hear ya.

ACE: And now all I can think in
my head.  Over and over again.

[ Ace looks up at Mark. ]

What is my last chance doesn’t
work?

SCENE 5:
Meanwhile, at the Telazon’s.

[ Markis & Airynn are laughing ]

MARKIS: Yeah, that was good.  Let’s
not forget why you got me fired.
AIRYNN: I knew that was coming.

[ From Episode '303 You're A Jerk' ]

[ Back up front, customers are going
through self check while Markis walks
by the window. . . ]

[ on the phone ] ‘Hey man, it’s almost
light out. . .Are you coming?’

MARKIS: Alright hurry, bye

. . . . .
[ The customer walks away just
as Trae and D’Ondrae arrive ]

D’ONDRAE: Is it safe?
MARKIS: Yeah, it’s cool
D’ONDRAE: Alright man, here
[ hands him cash ]

[ Markis pockets the cash and
then hands him a bag from
his jacket ]

MARKIS: Yeah, I’ve done a lot
of growing up since then.
AIRYNN: At least you stopped.

[ Markis stands up. ]

MARKIS: Listen, I didn’t just come
here to recall old times.
There’s something serious I
have to tell you.

AIRYNN: What’s going on?
MARKIS: I’m moving to LA,
man.  Tonight.

SCENE 6:

[ Mark has his arm on Ace’s
shoulder as he is about to
leave.  ]

MARK: Take care of yourself.
Okay.

Hey Karie.

[ Mark walks out & Karie sits down
by Ace. ]

KARIE: I know you don’t want
to do this but I was doing some
research and it’s actually a painless
process.  I’ll sit with you through
everyday of it.

[ Ace smiles, sitting up. ]

ACE:  You don’t have to do that.
I’m sorry about the way I’ve
been acting too.
KARIE: It’s okay.  I know this
could not have came at a
worse time with the Salon in
it’s first year and everything.
ACE: Hey, it’s life.  My life.

And I’m going to start living
it no matter what happens.

No more excuses.

" Start a Fire "

( T&T /#7 )

SCENE 1

‘Good news. . .
I spent extensive
time in Mark’s
office the other
day.’

MONICA: Okay. . .
Is there something
I should know
about?

[ She laughs ]

KYLE: Just that
you’re talking to
the future assistant
manager of TA
MONICA: You got
the promotion?
That’s fantastic
babe.
KYLE: Well not
officially, but I
am the only one
to step up so far.
That has to say
something, right?
MONICA: Sure,
but Mark’s not
normally one to
make quick
decisions.

KYLE: Trust me,
I’m in.
How about I take
you and the kids
out to celebrate
tonight?
MONICA: If you
insist.
KYLE: Perfect.
I’ll see you at
work. Night.

[ He hangs up
shutting off
his bedroom
light. ]

SCENE 2

[ Landyn wakes
up startled. Getting
out of bed, he sneaks
down the hallway. ]

‘Where do you
think you’re
going?’

[ He slowly turns
around ]

LANDYN: Damn.
It’s scary how
you can do that.
DANI: What?
Make my voice
sound manlier
than yours ever
could?
LANDYN: Very
funny Miss Thing.
DANI: So how’s
your treatment
going?
LANDYN: I’m not
gonna lie it sucks.
No contact for
three weeks. It’s
killing me.
DANI: I know,
but you don’t
want him to
see you like
this, do you?
LANDYN: Right
I have to stay
focused.

Well, I’ll see
you in group.

SCENE 3

[ Its morning and
Kyle enters TA. Walking
straight to Mark’s
office, he goes to
knock on the door. ]

AMBER: You’re
serious?
I didn’t think the
day would ever
come.
MARK: Well, it
was a very
tough decision.

Kyle: My ass.

But you’ve
worked in
two different
stores, I think
you’re ready.
AMBER: Thank
you so much
Mark.
MARK: You’re
welcome. Make
me proud

[ She smiles. Mark
opens the door
for her & Kyle
falls inside. ]

AMBER: Kyle. Hi.

[ She walks out ]

KYLE: Just letting
you know I'm here.
MARK: Great.
The carts weren’t
cleared last night.
Can you bring the
rest in? Thanks.

[ Mark shuts the
office door ]

KYLE: Sure.
No problem.

SCENE 4

[ At the Recovery
Center everyone
is gathered for
group. . . ]

DANI: Has anyone
seen Landyn?

[ No one answers.
Five minutes later
he comes running
through the door. ]

LANDYN: Sorry,
sorry.
[ whispers ] DANI: I
thought maybe
you escaped.

[ He rolls his eyes.]

‘We’re going to start
out today by talking
about recent positive
experiences.
A memory you’ve
shared with someone
that touched you.

[ Landyn promptly
raises his hand and
waves it in the air ]

‘Go ahead.’

LANDYN: A few
weeks before I
came here, me
and my ex were
sitting on my
balcony. . .

‘He was about
to be 17 and
wanted to drive.
So I told him I
would take him
somewhere to
practice.

[ Landyn stops
for a second. ]

LANDYN: He
was so excited.

Anyway, that is
my best memory.

[ Everyone claps
and Landyn sighs ]

LANDYN: How exactly
is this suppose
to help me?
DANI: It won’t.

If you’re only
here for your
dead relationship,
then you’ll never
get better.

[ Dani gets up
and leaves the
room. ]

SCENE 5

[ Kyle is sitting in
the cart corridor
and Monica walks
in. ]

‘What are you
doing?’

KYLE: Taking a
break from clearing
the lot.
MONICA: That
sucks.
Did you talk to
Mark yet?
KYLE: Not exactly.
MONICA: Well, let
me know if you
hear anything.
Can’t wait for
tonight.

[ She leaves and
Mark enters with
Amber. ]

KYLE: Hey.
MARK: When you
get back can you
get Kristyn off
her lane?
KYLE: Sure boss.

[ Mark leaves ]

AMBER: Hi.
Everyone has
to fill out these
job evaluation
forms for the
district manager.

Just be honest,
I guess.

KYLE: Okay.

‘I’m gonna be
honest alright’

SCENE 6

‘Wow. They let
you outside?’

DANI: Yeah.
They’re watching
I’m sure.
LANDYN: I didn’t
come here for
anyone else.
Just my own
sobriety. Thanks.

DANI: I hope
that’s true.
LANDYN: Trust
me.
I would never
lie to you.

SCENE 7

[ Kyle motions
for Amber to
come here. ]

KYLE: Hey. Does
Mark read over
the evaluations?
AMBER: I don’t
know. Why?
KYLE: No reason.

[ 5 minutes later. ]

‘Kyle H. report to
the back office!’

217 ALCOHAULIN ASS

‘Well, I’m stuffed. . .

once again, you’ve managed

to wow me with your cooking’

KRISTYN: I’m glad you liked

it

HITHE: Yeah, you should sit

down and relax

[ drinks his last drop of

wine]

KRISTYN: I wish, I could

but I just have to stay

busy. . .it’s the only way

I'll stay sane

HITHE: Yeah, I know

what you mean

KRISTYN: I’m sorry about

the other night [ sits down ]

HITHE: It’s alright I

understand

KRISTYN: No, I don’t

think you do

HITHE: What is it?

[ Looks at her. ]

KRISTYN: I’m scared, Hithe!

If my husband finds out

you come around he’ll

try and take my kids away

and I already lost my son. . .

I can’t stand to

lose my daughters too

HITHE: He can’t do that!

KRISTYN: I don’t know. . . But I

did push him down that

one night

HITHE: Don’t worry, that

wasn’t your fault. . .

KRISTYN: I know, but I have a

feeling he’ll try and use

it against me

HITHE: Do you have anything

uh. . .else to drink?

KRISTYN: I’m not sure. . .

I’ll check though

[ Kyle pulls up outside of Amber’s

+ sees her standing on her

balcony ]

KYLE: Well, if it isn’t

my Juliet

AMBER: Hey

KYLE: You look tired. . .

Still recovering over last night?

AMBER: Yeah, something like

that!

KYLE: Me too and I’ve been

doing some thinking. . .

AMBER: About what?

KYLE: About us I want

things to be how they

were before I left

I wanna be together again

AMBER: Kyle, I don’t know

if I’m ready for that

yet. . .

KYLE: I know you’re scared

about what happened the

last time

But I love you. . . and I’ve changed

AMBER: I know you have,

it’s just. . . I need some time

to think

KYLE: Oh. . .I see

Well, I’ll give you time

then

[ starts walking away. . . ]

AMBER: Kyle!

[ He gets in his car + drives

off. . . ]

[ Hithe’s laying on the couch

watching TV. . . ]

HITHE: Need any help

in there?

KRISTYN: No, I’m fine

HITHE: OK

[ Pouring another shot, Hithe

looks up + sees Kristyn’s little

girl. . . ]

[ looks up ] HITHE: Hi

‘Who are you?’

HITHE: I’m Hithe, what’s

your name?

[ walks up ] KRISTYN: Stop

bothering him. . .

Why don’t you go back

and play in your room?

[ Her daughter leaves + she

sits by Hithe. . . ]

[ On Amber’s porch, she’s outside

+ calls Ski. . . ]

SKI: Hey stranger

AMBER: Hey. . .sorry

I haven’t been around

much lately

SKI: It’s alright. . .

AMBER: I just have a lot

on my mind right now

SKI: Oh yeah? What’s up?

AMBER: Well, I had a date

with Kyle last nite. . . and then

Jeszyca showed up

SKI: Wow, what happened?

AMBER: Let’s just say

she didn’t leave

SKI: You didn’t!

AMBER: We did

SKI: I don’t know what

to say

AMBER: I don’t know

what to do

SKI: What do you mean?

AMBER: All of this has confused

my feelings for both.

[ Back at Kristyn’s. . . ]

KRISTYN: Sorry about that. . .

HITHE: You didn’t have to send

her away

We we’re just talking

KRISTYN: I know. . . I’m just

worried about her Dad

HITHE: Well, anyways I’m glad

you finally sat down

KRISTYN: Yeah, I wore myself out. . .

HITHE: You know, whatever you

need. . .I’m here

[ He looks up at her. ]

You don’t have to go

through this alone

KRISTYN: I know

[ Kristyn suddenly notices Hithe’s

stare + he moves closer to her. . .]

KRISTYN: Hithe

[ looks up ] HITHE: Yeah?

[ Hithe quickly kisses her

+ steps back, waiting for her

to kiss him…she hesitates ]

KRISTYN: Maybe I should take

you home

HITHE: What’s wrong?

KRISTYN: It’s just that, that’s

how this all started. . .

[ Kristyn goes upstairs to get

her kids while Hithe waits. . . ]

[ They drive up to Hithe’s apartment

+ he gets out seeing someone

standing in the driveway. . . ]

‘Hey. . . ‘

[ comes up ] HITHE: Mark. . .

What are you doing here?

MARK: Just seeing how

you were doing. . . I uh,

talked to Ace today

HITHE: Yeah, and?

MARK: Well, he told me

about the other day. . .

and listen Hithe, I know were

not best friends + I’m truly sorry

about your son, but drinking

that much isn’t going

to make things better

HITHE: What? This isn’t

intervention, Mark!

MARK: No, but it might be

soon if you don’t stop. . .

Trust me, I know!

HITHE: Well, thanks for your

concern, but I’m fine

[ Hithe walks off, leaving

Mark standing outside ]

[ At TA it’s night shift +

Jeszyca’s standing by self check

when someone walks toward

her. . . ]

[ looks up ] JESZYCA: Hey!

What are you doing here?

[ Amber doesn’t say anything

she just walks up + starts

kissing her. . . ]

[ Jeszyca looks surprised ]

JESZYCA: Wait, does this mean

what I think it means?
