Scene O n e: 

[ Outside, 3M’s Medical Center-MS. ] 

 

[ After a fresh, summer rain,  Erme  

stands peevish in the shade.  Whipping 

out a towel from his back pocket, he  

wipes off the barren wooden bench  

and table. 

 

His tone changes when he notices  

his girlfriend Yazmyn quietly walking 

toward him. ] 

 

“Is everything alright?” 

 

YAZ: As alright as it can be. 

 

[ She sits next to him. ] 

 

ERME: It’s good to see you.  

 

YAZ: Yeah.  You too. 

 

[ Erme wraps his arm around her 

& gives her a kiss from the side. ] 

 

YAZ: Sorry I haven’t been home 

much lately.  How are things at 

Mark’s? 

 

ERME: I mean, Mark’s fun.  Jai & 

Kii come around sometimes. Ski 

is never home so we really haven’t 

gotten to know each other much. 

 

YAZ: Oh, that’s a shame.  What 

about the guys at work? 

 

ERME: Things inside the store 

don't work the same as Kutz. 

 

It’s not one big happy family. 

 

[ Erme hides an eye roll. ] 

 

ERME: Anyway, let’s get out of 

here for a couple of hours.   

 

Get some real food. 

 

 

Scene T w o: 

[ We Are Miracles, Agency. ] 

 

[ After parking, Maxx gets outs of his car. 

Walking to the passenger side, he  

opens the door wide for his wife. 

 

Holding hands, they walk inside. ] 

 

 “For the last time, are you sure 

about this?” 

 

RICKY: For the last time.  Yes! 

 

Don’t try to hide it.  I can tell how 

excited you are to be starting. 

 

[ Maxx grins, turning away.] 

 

MAXX: Well, I am.  But . . . 

 

RICKY: Don’t worry.  I’m actually 

relieved to not have to go through 

a pregnancy.   

 

[ A business-dressed woman approaches 

them. ] 

 

“Hi.  I’m Dori Adler.  I’ll be asking you some 

questions today so I can get an idea of what 

you would like your surrogacy journey to look 

like.” 

 

[ She smiles. ] 

 

“Right this way.” 

 

[ They follow her into a back-office room.  

 

Everyone is comfortably seated now. ] 

 

DORI ADLER: So, what type of relationship 

would you want to have with the  

surrogate? 

 

 

Scene T h r e e: 

[ From Ski’s Sky, Going 55. ] 

 

[ Skilyr is driving along on a country 

road when he gets a call from his 

best friend Amber. He pauses his 

music, answering. ] 

 

“Tell me you’re calling with some 

good news today.” 

 

AMBER: Yes! Everything is up and  

running now.  Finally.  We only lost 

a half of day.   

 

SKI: That’s good.  And what about 

the cameras? 

 

AMBER: They didn’t catch anyone. 

 

SKI: Seriously? 

 

 

AMBER: I know. But from whom? 

 

SKI: I haven’t a clue.  But instead 

of focusing on the outside. 

 

Maybe it’s time to look inside TA.   

 

 

Scene F o u r: 

[ Erme’s Silverado, Parked. ] 

 

“That was delicious. Thanks.” 

 

ERME: I knew you couldn’t resist 

some Sushi Samba. 

 

YAZ: Now I’m stuffed. 

 

[ She sits back on the seat & 

Erme slides over, laying down with 

slight pressure on top on her. 

 

Yaz reaches back & smacks him 

on his jean shorts. ] 

 

[ A mini, make out session later. ] 

 

YAZ: Hey, I need to go inside. 

 

I work early in the morning. 

 

ERME: Can’t I stay? 

 

YAZ: I don’t think that’s a good 

idea.  I’m really tired.  We can  

coordinate our lunches tomorrow. 

 

[ She kisses him & leaves for her door. ] 

 

“Bye!” 

 

[ Erme shouts to no one. Driving off. ] 

 

 

Scene F i v e: 

[ Continuing. . .At The Agency. ] 

 

“We have some preferences.” 

 

[ Maxx responds, presenting her 

with a list. ] 

 

MAXX: Things like around our age, 

if possible a mix of both of our races. 

 

We want the child to look like it’s  

from both of us. Of course. 

 

[ Dori notices Ricky is mostly silent. ] 

 

DORI ADLER: And what about you  

Ricky? 

 

Any concerns? 

 

RICKY: I would like to make sure we  

get to know her beforehand to make 

the decision clearer. 

 

DORI ADLER: And after? 

 

[ He grabs Ricky’s hand. ] 

 

MAXX: We’d prefer no contact. 

RICKY: Yes.

 

 

Scene S i x: 

[ At Mark & Ski’s. ] 

 

[ Erme arrives, unlocking the back  

door to his “basement apartment”.  

 

He tosses his keys & phone on the 

couch. ] 

 

[ Retreating to the upstairs, he sprints 

toward the kitchen. ] 

 

“Hello?  Anyone home?” 

 

[ He calls out into the darkness. ] 

 

[ Opening & peering inside the fridge, 

he spots some leftover bottles of 

beer from Mark’s social. ] 

 

“Why not” 

 

[ He thinks, swiping them & heading 

back downstairs. ] 

 

Scene S e v e n: 

[ The Next Morning, TA Care. ] 

 

“Hey, how was your trip?” 

 

[ Tiesun is sitting at the front desk 

when Sunshine walks inside. ] 

 

SUNSHINE: Surprise! We’re married. 

 

TIESUN: What?  Why didn’t you tell 

anyone? 

 

SUNSHINE: Well, with Jeszyca’s 

family not approving.  We decided 

to keep it more intimate. 

 

TIESUN: That makes sense. 

 

Congratulations though! 

 

[ Rediki walks in, waving at Tiesun 

but she ignores him. ] 

 

SUNSHINE: Thanks. I better get to the  

office.  We have some new clients  

coming in first thing. 

 

TIESUN: Oh my God. 

 

SUNSHINE: What is it? 

 

[ Sunshine walks over & Tiesun 

turns her computer screen. ] 

 

“The computers on this system have 

been locked. 

 

To retrieve your files and regain access, 

contact us at. . .” 

 

SUNSHINE: We’ve been hacked.
