Scene O n e:
[ Bright & Early Morn, Inside TA. ]
[ Monica is setting up her newly acquired
assistant's office. She gleams, sitting
down a picture of her husband Kyle &
her smooching on their wedding day.
Amber comes up the stairs, walking
near the desk. ]
AMBER: Aww that’s sweet, when was
that taken?
[ She questions, looking at a close up
of Monica, Trailyn, & Kiilyn with a
white, sandy beach background. ]
MONICA: Just this past weekend. We
were up in Maison City.
AMBER: Oh yeah? I remember it being
so beautiful there when we went a few
years ago.
MONICA: Yes, it was breath taking. I’ll
show you the rest of the pics at lunch.
Was everyone able to complete the
product orders for this week?
AMBER: Actually no. The ordering
system is still down for us. Even though
no one else in the area is having an
issue with it.
MONICA: Hmm. That is weird.
AMBER: Yes, new ones are on the
way. In the meanwhile, we’ll just
have to do them ourselves on
the computers up here.
MONICA: That’s fine. I can finish them
up now.
AMBER: Sounds good, I’m gonna go
check in downstairs. We’re pretty
busy at check out.
[ She leaves her for the registers. ]
Scene T w o:
[ At Mark & Ski’s home. ]
[ Erme walks outside to the pool.
Locating Mark, who is preparing
for his social guests. ]
“Hey, you left your phone in
the basement last night.
It’s your Dad.”
MARK: Thanks.
[ He sits the phone down on the
side table with no intention of
answering. ]
MARK: Anyway. So, will Yaz be
joining us this afternoon?
ERME: She declined. I assume she
is spending time with Kira at the
hospital. I haven’t seen her much
lately.
MARK: Well, she’s supporting her best
friend right now. So, it’s understandable.
How is Kira doing?
ERME: From what I’ve been told,
they are waiting to see if the medicine
is working before having to move on
to something else.
She hasn’t had any bad side effects.
MARK: And how is Scott handling
everything?
ERME: I wouldn't know. None of the
guys are talking to me.
[ Erme looks down. ]
MARK: Still? I know you’ve made
some mistakes but you’d think they
would have gotten over it by now.
ERME: Nah, they are still freezing
me out. In fact, I think their disdain
for me has gotten worse.
MARK: Don’t worry about it. We’re
gonna have a blast today and it
will take your mind off things.
[ Erme sighs, sitting down on a
lounge chair. ]
ERME: I hope so.
Scene T h r e e:
[ Same Afternoon, The Aisles. ]
[ Amber is surveying the cashier island
when Monica joins her from upstairs. ]
“Next on the agenda. Hiring a new
cashier lead.”
MONICA: Right, we need one stat.
AMBER: A few employees have already
shown interest though.
MONICA: That’s great! I’ll set up some
interviews for next week.
Just message me the list.
AMBER: Remember they’ll have to be
trained on opening.
MONICA: Okay.
[ Suddenly the clerk who is watching over
the self- check lanes approaches them. ]
“Is something wrong?”
MALE CLERK: Yes, the registers are all
shutting down.
And I can’t get them to come back up.
[ Monica stays, & Amber follow the
employee. ]
Scene F o u r:
[ Back At Mark & Ski’s. ]
[ Mark & Jai are boldly standing at
the front door in all of their glory
as the guest start to arrive. ]
JAI: Hope everyone got the memo
to bathe.
[ Mark laughs. ]
MARK: Please, now that there are
women here. I’m sure nothing
would have stopped you.
[ He teases him. ]
JAI: Come on, Dad. I’m finally back
with Kay. From now on my focus is
on her and the baby.
MARK: Yeah, I know. I’m proud of you
son.
“Hey guys!”
[ Jai’s God brother & partner walk up. ]
LITTLE H: So, where do we disrobe?
MARK: You can use the bathrooms or
the covered stations by the pool.
CALEB: Great.
[ They walk off inside. ]
[ Mark nearly drops his glass of
champagne, seeing a familiar face
walking up the drive with an unknown
female. ]
JAI: Whoa. Who invited that Mirror
manager?
Scene F i v e:
[ After Lunch Time, Back At TA. ]
“This has been one heck of a
first day being manager.”
[ Monica takes a seat at her desk,
propping up her phone to continue
her video call with her daughter. ]
TRAILYN: Why? What’s been going
on?
MONICA: Just some issues with
the ordering and then the cash
registers acting up.
Girl, take me back to the beach.
TRAILYN: I wish.
MONICA: How are things at the
station?
TRAILYN: Yeah. About that.
[ The lights in the room start to flicker
wildly off and on. Then shut completely
off.
[ She loses service & the call ends. ]
Scene S i x:
[ Outside At Mark’s Nudists Social. ]
[ Little H & Caleb are posing with the
cover up paddles while Jai snaps
different pics.
They head for the pool while Erme
& Mark takes their place. ]
MARK: You cover me with yours.
And I’ll cover you.
[ Jai laughs. ]
“Mind if I take a turn?”
[ The Mirror manager appears
to haggle Mark. ]
LUKE: I see you got your “Most Sales
Award 2024” displayed for all to see.
It’s quite boastful.
MARK: The party’s out here, Luke.
No one told you to travel down my
hallway.
[ They trade places at the picture
stand. ]
[ Mark rustles through the paddle
box, finding the smallest one. ]
“This one should fit you fine.”
[ He smirks, handing it to Luke. ]
Scene S e v e n:
[ Outside Of TA. ]
[ Monica & Amber are waiting near
the entrance. ]
“I put up a sign and the doors are locked.”
MONICA: Okay. Maxx and Brian are
checking on the breakers right now.
AMBER: Good. I’m sure we’ll get
this figured out.
Here they come now.
[ Maxx & Brian run up. ]
MAXX: Hey, you might want to call
the cops.
MONICA: What, why?
BRIAN: Because somebody cut the
lines.
[ They all look concerned. ]
AMBER: Okay . . .
An excellent chapter. I could really relate to the issues at TA with the registers going off and power. The nude social is getting interesting too. The nudity adds an interesting new layer to the scenes which you don't normally get. Makes me keen to keep reading.
